Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Scrivner

Hi Jamie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was in high school my mom would take senior photos for my friends and cousins and I always thought it was so cool how fun and confident she could make people feel. A few years later I borrowed her camera to take engagement photos for a friend and had so much fun with it I practically begged people to let me take family photos for them. My love for it began then and it was all a snowball effect from there!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Luckily, with the help of referrals and returning clients, building my business has been a fairly smooth process for me. I could not have done it without my amazing client/friend support base. I struggle with being a strong presence on social media and all the platforms business owners are “supposed” to be visible on.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I capture moments, feelings, and memories. I love shooting everything from kiddos to senior portraits to engagements to weddings to maternity to newborn to family to extended family. After a decade I thought I would have found my niche but I have not have been able to narrow down what I shoot, I love it all so much. I love capturing my clients throughout the different stages of their lives. My favorite is anything that makes a session more personal… shooting on their own property, using things that they love as props, playing games with their kids, going to the place they had their first date. I am always working on making people feel more natural in front of the camera.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I played a ton of sports year round. I was always doing something and was involved in everything. I think that is why now as an adult I have always been a fan of ambiance and romanticizing everything and as an adult I love to savor the slower and unbusy moments.
