Check Out Jana Blue’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jana Blue.

Hi Jana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jana Blue and I own Choreography Wire; an online based company that acts as a resources for all dance teams. I currently live in Denver with my husband Bryant and two small children Roman (3) and Kian (1). I’m graduating from MSU Denver in July 2022 with a Bachelor’s in Marketing. I started dancing when I was 7 years old at Cherry Creek Dance. I went on after high school to be a professional dancer for the Denver Outlaws, Denver Nuggets, and the Denver Broncos. While I was an NBA dancer, I was given a ton of opportunities to choreograph and discovered how much I loved it! I reached out to another professional choreography company to try to work for them but they were unable to bring a newbie on – so I thought I would do it myself. As I was coaching at Denver East High School, I saw there was a dire need for choreography that challenged our dancers in a way the traditional camp and experiences were not. Most high school dancers want to move on to pro and college but aren’t being given high-level routines for their game-day performances. I created Choreo Wire with the intent to create affordable professional choreography that would be easy to learn from video and therefore available around the world. I’ve hosted home camps, choreography camps, leadership summits, and professional prep classes to be able to position Choreography Wire and its resources as a one-stop shop for dance teams! We have clients in Aurora, CO but we also have them in China, New Zealand, and Italy! I’ve been able to choreograph for the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneer Cheerleaders and our own Denver Nuggets Dancers, Colorado Eagles Chicks, and Denver Outlaws Dancers!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Choreo Wire is a very important passion project of mine and the road the past 4 years hasn’t been bumpless, but it has actually been very successful. One struggle initially was finding a demo team that could make the video production schedule work. I was fortunate enough to talk with the Colorado Eagles Chicks and they are Choreo Wire’s official demo team. They learn several dances and record them for the store in a matter of weeks. Additionally, with the pandemic, we saw a slowdown of work for a period of time. However, the issues with travel and cost coming from big-name choreography and camp companies opened a lot of doors for us, as schools and coaches began to look for more custom alternatives to elevate their programs.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets me apart from other companies is my willingness to meet teams where they are and push them to new heights that are truly going to make them better dancers, but also better people. I want to speak to the dancer who doesn’t believe in themselves, the one who lost their passion for dance, and the one who needs someone to take some time out of their day to let them know they’re important.

I aim to leave an impact wherever I teach and I hope it lasts a lifetime. I’m so proud to have choreographed a state title winner with West Grand high school in 2020. To have been a part of the leadership growth at Eagle Valley. To have cultivated an amazing Poms Program at East High School, and for so many other incredible accomplishments.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
During the pandemic, I went full-time with Choreography Wire. That was a huge risk but has allowed me the opportunity to gain more relationships and connections in my industry.

There are degrees of risk. I’m not one to take the largest, but some risk is necessary in business.
