Check Out Jason Cranford’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Cranford.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started working in the Colorado cannabis industry as a plant breeder in 2009. In 2011 I won a High Times Cannabis Cup for high CBD content in a strain I bred. 2 years later I met a 6-year-old girl from the state of Georgia who was suffering from epilepsy. She was having hundreds of seizures per day and she was in PICU with little chance of surviving. Her name is Haleigh.

I started donating CBD oil to her mother and to our surprise Haleigh’s seizures were dramatically reduced and she was able to leave the PICU. We put her on a Georgia House Representative’s private plane and flew her to Colorado because she couldn’t survive a commercial flight. The oil I made had such a positive effect on Haleigh that I let her mother Janea name the plant. She named the strain “Haleigh’ Hope” and to date, we have provided this oil to over 7,000 people worldwide.

In 2013 Haleigh was given a few months to live by doctors. Now, in 2024 she is thriving and defying all odds placed on her by her doctors. The success of this product led me to try my hand at the Colorado Recreational Cannabis market in the hopes of providing high-quality, lab-tested cannabis products to adults who live in the state and visit.

We used the same values implemented to create the Haleigh’s Hope product line: High Quality, organic, lab-tested, and high potency. We named our brand South Park Farma and opened our first store in the East Denver/ Commerce City area in 2018.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle we have encountered is state and federal laws that prohibit cannabis products from crossing state lines. The high taxes and licensing fees placed on cannabis companies by the state of Colorado have destroyed the industry and caused several chains to close their doors permanently.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My biggest achievement in the cannabis industry is my work with a product line I created called Cannatol. It is a cannabis nasal spray that appears to stop seizures in their tracks. Some seizure types are lethal and this is the type of seizure this product appears to stop. I don’t know how many lives I have saved with this product but I do feel like it is my greatest achievement even more so than receiving a High Times Cannabis Cup.
