Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Ceballos.
Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I discovered at a very young age that I loved art, music, books, crafting and jewelry making. The mermaid persona has always been there even at a very young age I loved reading all kinds of lore on the subject along with some other interesting subjects. My dream is to have my own art/photography/beauty/crafting studio. At the moment, I work primarily in my home in a very small space. I also work full-time as a hairstylist which helps pay for my crafting and mermaid/makeup/artist life. I have other opportunities in the works such as attending an online SFX makeup school and working on learning how to play the guitar. Other aspects of my life include working on building my social media and my overall goth/vampire aesthetic. I also have plans to work on more indie film sets in other words I’m all over the board when it comes to hobbies/dreams…it’s not a bad thing to manifest lots of dreams.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It certainly wasn’t easy just to get where I am now. Moving to colorado and living here certainly wasn’t easy. I most certainly pinched pennies to the point where I over-pinched them. I got sick while attending cosmetology school I struggled with that along with the stack of medical bills. I worked hard to complete school and really pushed myself to work a couple of jobs to make it here in colorado. At the time there wasn’t any room for my creative side because we all know that gets pricey. My fiance and I have worked really hard to get where we are today allowing me in the last 6 years to really work on my craft and myself.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently, I work at a salon to help supplement my craft. Outside of that, I make crowns, jewelry, and a bit of sewing as well as attend small craft fairs. I’m proud of not giving up because that could have easily happened. I’m mainly known for crafting, mermaiding, and makeup. What sets me apart is my individuality there are tones of people who love the same things as I do but my personality and the love for my work is what really sets me apart, but I mainly love to work with others who love what I love.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as being content and happy with where I am in my life…Yes, there is always more room to build on success but it most certainly is something I’m still building on.
