Check Out Jessica Goldmuntz Stokes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Goldmuntz Stokes.

Hi Jessica Goldmuntz, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Creativity has always been part of my life. As a child, I was always dancing, painting and writing. My Mom taught me about energy and energy work when I was 8 years old. Being someone who helps integrate and facilitate healing as well as movement became more natural than riding a bike. No matter what profession I was in, I was always exploring creative hobbies. When Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when she was 64, I was in my mid 30s, Within I few years, I began writing about our journey. When she passed 13 years later, I was ready to tell our story. My book, ‘Seeking Clarity in the Labyrinth, A Daughter’s Journey Through Alzhiemer’s’, explores our families journey navigating not just her passing, but that of my aunt (Alzheimer’s) and my uncle (dementia related Parkenson’s).
These days, I passionately support Alzheimer’s Association, co-lead retreats for women discovering and finding themselves, teach embodied and sacred movement through belly dance and have a healing arts practice that includes working with sound, labyrinths, Reiki and stone medicine. I am really an Energetic Alchemist!
All of this has set up me up perfectly to help my Dad, as he now also is navigating and walking the path of Alzheimer’s. All journey’s are different and Dad’s could not be more different than Mom’s. I feel as if my life is a gift. Like a labryinth, a uni-cursal path that eventually comes to center, as we walk, we have so many lessons to learn.
I am writing- this time about me coming out of the spiritual closet! It is also about my Dad- and how we find a way to support his aging with grace, sovereignty and autonomy.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It takes a while to come to our path. I had to have a few careers first. Everything I have done has felt right for the time. This stage of my life- the 50s’ era and beyond, seems to include me stepping into my full self. It feels so good!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I call my self a spiritual and energetic alchemist that helps women connect with themselves through sacred movement, sound and stones. A class or session with me is not like anything you likely have experienced. I use sound healing and a variety of energy modalities including Reiki, Therapuetic Touch and Daoist Stone Medicine to help my clients become more embodied. I love labyrinths, and use finger labryinths to help people drop into a deeper way of connecting with themselves.
My dance classes help women be in their bodies. Too often we get disconnected from who we are, and lose sight of ourselves. Movement and our bodies are sacred. Finding a deeper connection to ourselves in deeply healing.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the diversity the our city provides. We are such a dynamic, energetic, loving, diverse and powerful city.
I am not a big fan of crowds- and appreciate how easy it is to get out to nature and/or up into the mountains. My Dad lives in Salida. I spend lots of time out there. My husband and I have land out in Kiowa- also a magical part of our state that is not flat at all!
