Check Out Jj Yosh’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jj Yosh

JJ, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began in college, where I discovered my passion for the outdoors on my first backpacking trip. It was there, amidst the rugged beauty of nature, that I realized how vital it was to connect with the Earth and protect it. This experience ignited a fire within me, and I knew I wanted to share the transformative power of nature with others.

Determined to make an impact, I started leading groups on outdoor adventures, helping people experience the world’s most beautiful places firsthand. But I knew I could do more. I turned to media, understanding its potential to reach and inspire a broader audience. I began creating content that showcased the awe-inspiring beauty of the natural world and the importance of preserving it.

As I grew in my craft, opportunities began to arise. I appeared in national commercials, modeled for top brands, and hosted TV shows. With each project, my reach expanded, and I was able to share my message with more people. But it wasn’t just me on this journey—I was joined by my adventure cat, Simon, who quickly became a beloved part of my story.

Together, Simon and I built a community of over 10 million followers across social media. Our adventures have been featured in numerous publications, and our content continues to inspire people around the world to get outside, explore nature, and protect our planet. My mission has always been to change the world through media, and every step of my journey has been dedicated to that goal.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The journey to where I am today has been filled with challenges and obstacles that tested my resolve and pushed me to grow.

Early on, one of the biggest struggles was finding my voice and figuring out how to turn my passion for the outdoors into a career. I faced a lot of uncertainty and doubt, especially when it came to making a living from something I loved. There were times when I questioned whether I was on the right path, wondering if I could actually make a difference or if anyone would even care about the content I was creating.

Building a following wasn’t easy either. It took years of hard work, persistence, and countless hours of trial and error. There were moments when I felt like I was putting everything out there, only to be met with little response. It was tough to keep pushing forward, especially when it seemed like success was always just out of reach.

Another significant challenge was learning how to navigate the world of media and content creation. From dealing with rejection and criticism to understanding the technical aspects of filming and editing, there was so much to learn. I had to teach myself a lot along the way, and there were plenty of setbacks and failures. But each obstacle taught me something valuable, and I learned to see them as opportunities for growth rather than roadblocks.

Through it all, staying true to my mission of inspiring others to connect with nature has been my guiding light. Even when the road was rough, I knew that what I was doing mattered. I’ve learned that perseverance, passion, and a willingness to adapt are key to overcoming struggles and continuing to move forward. And having Simon by my side, sharing these adventures, has made the journey all the more rewarding.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work revolves around creating content that inspires people to explore the outdoors, connect with nature, and protect our planet. I specialize in adventure filmmaking, social media storytelling, and producing engaging media that showcases the beauty of the natural world. What sets me apart is my unique approach to blending adventure with environmental advocacy, all while making it relatable and accessible to a broad audience.

I’m perhaps best known for my adventures with my cat, Simon. Together, we’ve traveled to some of the most breathtaking places on Earth, capturing our experiences and sharing them with a community of over 10 million followers. Simon and I have become something of a dynamic duo, showing that adventure isn’t just for humans—it’s for our furry friends too!

One of the things I’m most proud of is the impact our content has had on people’s lives. Hearing from followers who were inspired to go on their first hike, take a camping trip, or simply spend more time outside because of something I shared—that’s incredibly rewarding. It’s a reminder that the work I do is making a difference, and that’s what drives me to keep going.

Another point of pride is the diversity of projects I’ve been involved in. From appearing in national commercials for brands like ASICS and AT&T to modeling in campaigns for Pearl Izumi and Salomon, to hosting TV shows on networks like Discovery and Tastemade—these opportunities have allowed me to reach different audiences and spread my message in various ways. My feature-length film, Ancient Tomorrow, is another highlight of my career, exploring the intersection of ancient civilizations and modern technology.

What truly sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity. I’m not just creating content for the sake of it—I’m sharing my real-life experiences, my passion for the outdoors, and my dedication to environmental stewardship. Whether I’m leading a group on a backpacking trip, filming a new adventure, or simply spending time in nature with Simon, my goal is to inspire others to see the world differently and to take action to protect it.

In the end, it’s about more than just the content I create—it’s about the community that’s formed around it, the conversations that have been sparked, and the positive impact we’re making together. That’s what makes my work so fulfilling.

Any big plans?
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in adventure filmmaking and content creation. One of my main goals is to expand the reach of my message by exploring new platforms and formats. I’m planning to dive deeper into long-form storytelling, potentially through documentaries or a series that delves into environmental issues, adventure travel, and the human connection to nature. This would allow me to tell more in-depth stories and engage with audiences on a deeper level.

I’m also looking forward to collaborating with more brands and organizations that align with my mission of inspiring outdoor exploration and environmental stewardship. These partnerships will allow me to create impactful content that not only entertains but also educates and motivates people to take action in their own lives.

Another exciting development is the potential expansion of my production company. I’m considering bringing on more team members and exploring new creative avenues to produce a wider range of content, from adventure films to commercial projects and beyond. This would allow us to take on bigger projects and reach even more people with our message.

On a personal level, I’m always looking for new adventures to embark on with Simon. We’re planning some unique trips to lesser-known destinations, where we can capture the beauty of untouched landscapes and share those experiences with our audience. I’m also interested in exploring more off-the-beaten-path locations, showing that adventure can be found anywhere, not just in the most famous spots.

In terms of big changes, I’m considering shifting more of my focus toward advocacy work, using my platform to champion causes related to conservation, sustainability, and animal welfare. I believe that with the following I’ve built, I have a responsibility to use my voice for good, and I’m excited about the potential to make a real difference in these areas.

Ultimately, my plans for the future are centered around growth—both personally and professionally. I’m excited to continue evolving as a creator, storyteller, and advocate, always staying true to my mission of inspiring others to get outside, explore the world, and protect our planet.
