Check Out Jonathan Moore’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Moore

Hi Jonathan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Jonathan Moore and I am currently rapping under the stage name “ Jay4K”. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale florida which is in Broward county. I originally was born in lauderhill florida in a area called “Deepside” but moved further east to Fort Lauderdale as a child. For the most part I had a pretty normal upbringing for a kid growing up in the hood. I was exposed to creating music at a young age being the my brother was a local rapper in Broward under the name “Jnopressha”. He was afflicted with a local record label called “ Deepside” entertainment which had a few bussing artist like “T-stunna” and “Young AC “. While in elementary school we had a studio built in our back yard and thats when I got my first experience of being in a studio. I would hang out in there sometimes after school and even got the chance to record some of the artists when no engineer was around. This is when I first got inspired to create music of my own. From the age 10-15 I would start to create my own songs. I started off writing them in my notes on Facebook before transitioning to video recording myself rapping over instruments then posting them on Facebook and sound cloud. In middle school I began gaining recognition playing football. Through out my high school career I attended University of nova in davie florida and St.Thomas Aquinas in fortlauderdale where I won 2 state championships (2015-2016). After graduation I attended Kent state university on a football scholarship but that was short lived due to me leaving after the 2017 fall semester. That following summer in 2018 I ended up enrolling at the University of central florida in Orlando. While attending ucf I began getting back into making music and start recording in studios. Feeling out of place and not seeing much play time I eventually quit playing football in spring of 2020 and right after that Covid hit. During the time of quarantine I had bought a scarlet pro interface bundle and began recording myself in my apartment. Over the next year I would go on to record my first 3 projects and a few singles. “Broward county Braveheart “(2020) “400 DayZ EP” (2022) Live From the O (2023).

More mature and seasoned I am preparing to record new projects visuals and taking my career to the next level as an independent Artist.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Towards the end of 2021 My college roommate/teammate was killed while being back home in Jacksonville. In 2022 I dropped my 2 project 400 dayZ and began to take music seriously. Shortly after that one of my teammates from little league and high school was killed in a car accident in Fort Lauderdale. Struggling financially and just feeling isolated I moved back down to fort launderdale to try to regroup and get back on my feet but it had been a struggle since then. A lot of financial burdens and family feuds but all of this has been motivation and fuel for my next projects. The obstacles I’ve face were what motivated me to take music seriously and go harder

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a upcoming Musician/ entrepreneur out of south Florida. I specialize melodic trap music but also am versatile enough to tap into other genres like rock and county as well as “conscious” music.
