Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Christopher.
Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved to make art. Many of my earliest memories are of drawing dragons and knights, or heroes with lightsabers. Fantasy worlds and the art that brings them to life have continued to fascinate me into adulthood, and have even become the way I make a living. Although I have had very little art training outside of a few classes in school, I am now a professional tattoo artist and owner of an anime store called The Otaku Attic. I have been tattooing for just about three years and worked mostly service industry and retail jobs up until I was able to get my foot in the door of the tattoo industry. The love and support I have received from my friends, family, and wonderful partner Anna have enabled me to work hard and get to where I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing of value is ever won without struggle, some harder than others. As a teenager and young man, like many others, I spent my time abusing drugs and being involved in crime. As an adult and business owner, I overwork myself and don’t sleep enough, feeling like life will pass me by if I don’t take the time to enjoy it. But for everything I’ve been through, all the wrong decisions, trials, and tribulations, it has all been worth it to learn from my mistakes and find a way to live my own dream.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently specialize in anime-style tattooing, and although I enjoy a variety of styles and mediums, I am best known for my vibrant colorwork. I also own an anime-themed apparel company called Bad Kami Culture, which I do all the designing for. I love learning about new art techniques and tools and am always looking for new ways to improve myself as an artist.
