Check Out Jordan Diamond’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Diamond.

Hi Jordan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve wanted to do hair ever since I was a kid – for as long as I can remember I’ve been the one doing my friend’s hair and makeup, and I loved making them feel as beautiful outside as they were on the inside! It was always a dream to make a career out of it because seeing women’s faces light up when they love their hair or their lashes or whatever it may be in the mirror just absolutely brings me so much joy. When the time came, I felt like I needed to go to college, so I studied sports medicine at Colorado State University. It was fun, but I knew it wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life.

After my son was born, I finally had the chance to go to beauty school, so I jumped at it! I went part-time in the evenings, and as soon as I was able to start taking clients at school Covid hit. It was such a long journey, but with help from my family and support from my friends, I’m so proud of myself for pushing through. I’m absolutely working my dream job now, and I couldn’t be more grateful!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Covid was obviously the biggest bump in my journey. I was halfway through school, and I was supposed to learn how to do hair online? I’ve always been a hands-on learner, so watching videos and doing zoom calls with teachers didn’t feel beneficial at all. I love my friends and family for trusting me enough to practice on them during that time, they were my saving grace!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a licensed cosmetologist, but I focus on hair, primarily color! I absolutely love creating any kind of new color on my beautiful clients. My two favorites would have to be natural, lived in colors or BRIGHT vivids. Two totally opposite ends of the spectrum, but the joy and satisfaction I get from seeing both of those results is equal! My goal is to make people feel like the best version of themselves when they look in the mirror – even if it doesn’t take much, sometimes spending the time just to love on and encourage your clients makes all the difference in the world.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think there’s two. I think the ability to connect with people is the first because the most important thing in a client/stylist relationship is communication. If I can effectively connect and communicate with my clients on a professional and a personal level, I know I’ve made a client for life! The second quality has to be the ability to learn and grow. We’re in the beauty industry, where things are constantly changing and new techniques and products are always coming out, so to be successful you have to be able to learn and adapt to new changes!
