Check Out Juhee Kumar’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juhee Kumar.

Hi Juhee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My embodiment journey started when my older brother took me to my first yoga class in Austin, Texas 13 years ago. It was a 9pm candle lit kundalini class, This experience was the first time in my awareness where I felt strong, connected to my body, and experienced mindfulness of the different sensations within my body. What really sold the magic of yoga to me was how that night, as I laid down to sleep, I felt new parts of my back that I didn’t know existed as they made contact with the mattress. I instantly fell asleep.

Fast forward 13 years, and I have still been practicing this ancestral wisdom that centers our mind, connects us to our heart, and allows us to be present with what is. As a result of consciously coming back to my body, even in times of distress, I have over the years learned the language of my body. And with the tools of yoga, mindfulness, and curiosity, listening to that language has proved to serve me and my community right. It was the portal to my intuition, my inner compass, my voice, and my truth, It has enabled me to take risks, to go against what “the norm” is, and live a life of inner alignment. It has also inspired me to guide others to do the same.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Walking the path of alignment to our soul’s purpose has never been easy, but I can say it has been worth it. The most recent challenge or risk I took started about a year ago, when I stepped into the unknown. At the time, I was at my peak in yoga teaching in Denver, had steady clients, was growing my yoga astrology business, and despite it all, something in the back of my mind kept telling me there is more out there. That I have to go to India.

So January 2025, I took the leap of faith and bought a one way ticket to India, in search of what the inner voice was calling for. I originally assumed this trip would be a month or two, but my dear mentor Lakshmi Nair, knew better than I did. In current day, it has been over one year, living in India, learning, growing, transforming, releasing, and creating space for what is to come.

And that is what is so beautiful about stepping into the unknown — all it takes is the first step. And since my first step, there have been so many moments of growth, love, challenges, risks, and difficulties. Coming from a South Asian Immigrant Family, hard work and certainty were values instilled in me from a young age. So what happens when spirit or the universe or something larger than those grounded-to-earth values step in?

There became a point where it was no longer an option to not listen to my inner body wisdom when it was calling me back to ancestral land. There became a point where it was more painful to stay in what I knew to be my peak, than to see what else was out there. Where it became harder to listen to the logic of others, and easier to have faith in my own self-trust.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work with individuals and group seeking to connect more to their innate body wisdom. So often, we outsource our healing to others, whether that’s doctors, people on the internet, our family, or others. What we sometimes fail to remember is that we know what is best for us, and we just need to remember our own body language and power. I help clients in one-on-one and group settings to come back to their wisdom through intimacy coaching, embodiment practices, yoga, play, and rituals. My background consists of a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, a 200 hour BIPOC Yoga Teacher Training, a Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher Training, and Astrology. I weave these passions together to provide a client centered experiencing centering freedom, creation, and play.

My most popular offering is my New Moon and Full Moon Yoga Series for BIPOC. I have been offering those for about 2 years now, and it’s a great way to sync our rhythms with the lunar cycle, as well as connect with like minded community.

I would say what sets me apart from other yoga guides and embodiment practitioners is my nurturing presence, my ability to curate a personalized experience, , my ability to weave in information from various schools of healing to best support my client, and my focus on creating individual healing experiencing within a community container of like minded individuals. I would also add my core values of body autonomy, consent, and choice are weaved into every offering I provide, and by being myself, I am then able to gently remind others to provide themselves permission to do the same.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice to finding a mentor would be to continue walking down the path that is meant for you. When we are walking in alignment with our purpose, then universe will provide by crossing paths with exactly whom you are meant to meet. For example, my greatest mentor on my yoga journey has been Lakshmi Nair, of Lakshmi Yoga (and former Satya Yoga Cooperative). We met online during the incipient stages of COVID thanks to the Instagram Algorithm, But looking back now, I know it was divine timing and universe guiding me towards something greater. So once we tune into all the signs the universe is showing us, it’s inevitable that the mentors meant for us will cross our path. So in essence, keep going, and have faith.
