Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Martinez.
Hi Kathy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been drawn to helping others—it’s just who I am. Nurturing and connecting with people has come naturally to me for as long as I can remember. Massage therapy became the perfect path because it allows me to support both the physical and emotional well-being of others in such a profound way.
I was born and raised in Florida, where I also completed my training at the Sarasota School of Massage Therapy—one of the top massage schools in the country. Inspired by the beauty and grounding energy of the mountains out west, I moved to Colorado after graduation to begin my wellness journey. That’s when I founded SoCo Massage Therapy, a space where I could offer heart-led, intuitive bodywork rooted in strong clinical knowledge. It’s been such a gift to create a practice that brings relief, restoration, and connection to the community I now call home.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but it’s been meaningful.
In February of 2020, I experienced a serious fall that resulted in nerve damage and neuropathy in my arm. I lost all movement and sensation, and it forced me to shut down my practice completely. Just a month later, the world shut down due to COVID, and I was faced with a full stop—personally and professionally.
That year became a time of deep healing. I went through physical therapy, leaned into massage as part of my own recovery, and lived on a homestead where I was able to slow down, reconnect with nature, and truly tune into what my body and spirit needed.
Through patience, support, and a lot of inner work, I eventually regained movement and strength. That experience not only shaped who I am as a practitioner—it deepened my understanding of what it means to heal.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in integrated massage—combining deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and relaxation techniques based on each client’s unique needs. My work is both intuitive and informed by strong clinical training, offering a blend of therapeutic depth and calm.
Clients often share that they feel genuinely cared for and experience lasting relief after a session. What sets me apart is the intentional, personalized nature of my work—each session is thoughtfully tailored to support the whole person, not just the symptoms.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something people may not know is that after my injury, I spent a brief but meaningful time living in Trinidad, Colorado. It was there that I began easing back into massage, learning how to rebuild not just my body—but also a business and new connections from the ground up.
Earlier in my career, I also worked a season at the Ritz-Carlton in Florida. While the luxury spa world was valuable experience, I realized my true passion lies in one-on-one, personalized care—creating a space where people feel safe, supported, and genuinely nurtured.
