Check Out Kendall Espensen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Espensen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Beauty by the Blonde back in 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. I have always had such a love for makeup. Anytime I got money for chores or gifts I wanted to go straight to Target and get all the lipglosses my heart desired. I got my esthetics license in 2016 and worked in a salon doing facials and eyelash extensions. I enjoyed working in the salon but my passion for makeup was so strong I knew I wanted to be doing it full-time.

I moved to Denver in June of 2020 and got hired on to a hair and makeup team, I also got hired at Deka Lash doing lash extensions 3 days a week. I am so grateful for those jobs because they gave me the confidence to go out on my own. I’m so very excited to see where this journey of being a small business owner leads me, I can’t wait to meet all my future brides and clients!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a bumpy road for sure. When I first started out, I wasn’t sure when my next paycheck would be. How will I do this? How will I pay for that? I noticed when I focused more on my lack of work it would just make me spiral.

I changed my mindset and attitude to be grateful for even having the opportunity to own my very own small business. It’s helped me so much to stay positive and opened up doors to meeting other vendors in the wedding industry to network with.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is Kendall Espensen. I’m a licensed professional makeup artist and I own Beauty by the Blonde. I specialize in bridal and event makeup. I love making women feel like their most beautiful selves by enhancing the natural beauty within them.

I’m most proud of being independent and working for myself. It is not always easy, but worth it. I’m your biggest hype girl and a perfectionist, so rest assured you will be getting the best makeup when you hire me. I’m also a lot of fun and love to make others laugh.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory is waking up in the summertime and jumping in the pool first thing in the morning having sleepovers going to Blockbuster Videos to rent movies.
