Check Out Kendra Wilson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Wilson.

Kendra Wilson

Hi Kendra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always believed that the mind has extraordinary potential for healing, but I only fully grasped this when I had to apply those principles to my own life. I was bedridden for years, debilitated by Lyme disease, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), and high sweat chloride indicative of Cystic Fibrosis. My condition was so severe that I was allergic to everything—foods, the air outside, even water. At my worst, I couldn’t tolerate human touch. I was trapped in a body that was failing me.

But I discovered the power of neuroscience and neuroplasticity, and slowly, I began to heal. Through consistent, science-based practices of self-reflection and truly embodying the knowledge that I was healthy. It wasn’t “faking it until I made it”, but rather knowing with my whole heart that I didn’t come here to be bedridden, and raise my daughter on my own, from a mattress on the floor. I felt the taste of the finish line of a marathon, and saw the crowds in my presentations change before me as I taught them who they really were, In this, I rewired my brain and my body followed suit. I epigenetically signaled healthy genes to upregulate, and unhealthy genes downregulated. I didn’t think about that, that was simply the result. That’s how neuroplasticity works! Today, I’m completely healthy—no more allergies, no more reactions. I’m now an ultramarathon runner, which is something I not only imagined I’d say when I was bedridden. but believed wholeheartedly, even when it appeared impossible. I’m also a single mother to my incredible 7-year-old daughter, who inspires me every day with her wisdom and grace.

To pay forward what I learned, I founded The Global Coherence Project (GCP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to make these science-based tools accessible to everyone. Our tools, starting at just five minutes a day, help people manage stress and improve both their behavior and health outcomes. We’re working on groundbreaking research, under the supervision of Dr. Rollin McCraty, Director of Research at HeartMath (which is separate from us, though we share our passion for global coherence), to measure the physiological effects of our methods on heart rate variability. Our surveys have already shown remarkable improvements, and we are confident that our research will support even more profound findings.

As we round out our first year, GCP has expanded faster than we anticipated, and we need help to keep up with demand. We offer our services to public schools for free, as well as our work in underserved communities, and are translating our recordings into multiple languages. We’re also developing a free app to further our mission of creating accessible, equitable health solutions. Donations help us continue this work, fund research, and broaden our reach. We also offer a two hour workshop called “Redefining Human Potential”, which is for a tax deductible donation, and allows us to continue this work. It’s an exciting journey, and I’m grateful for every step along the way. More info can be found at globalcoherenceproject.org and don’t hesitate to reach out to Kendra, at kendra@globalcoherenceproject.org for more information! We have some big fund raising events coming up in the Spring as well, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, especially in the first year as a new nonprofit. It is definitely not a journey for the faint of heart, but my uncompromising will is what kept me alive, gave me new life, and keeps me going to the finish line of ultra marathons, so here I am! One of the biggest challenges has been securing enough funding to sustain and grow our programs. It’s a known fact that the first three years for any nonprofit are the toughest—many grants are inaccessible because we don’t yet have a long financial history or large-scale results to showcase. Most of the funding has come directly out of my own pocket to keep things moving, which is both rewarding and overwhelming. We’ve seen firsthand the difference our science-based tools are making, but in order to continue this work, particularly in public schools and underserved communities, and now to fund research, we need a lot of support. Donations are absolutely critical right now—they’re what allow us to reach more people, fund our research, and continue offering our programs for free to public schools and underserved communities. Without that support, it becomes very difficult to meet the growing demand for our services. It’s easy to donate from our webpage under the “donate” link at globalcoherenceproject.org !

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. At The Global Coherence Project, we specialize in delivering science-based stress management tools designed to be accessible, effective, and easy to use. What sets us apart is that our tools can be used in just five minutes a day, and all you have to do is press play—making them incredibly achievable for anyone, regardless of their schedule or background. We’re proud to offer these tools for free, promoting health equity and ensuring that no one is left behind due to financial constraints. People of all ages benefit, typically starting at age 3 and up.

One of the things that makes our nonprofit truly stand out is that we’re not just reaching individuals but entire communities. We’re active in public schools, providing students, educators, and families with tools to improve mental and emotional well-being. This focus on underserved populations allows us to make a lasting impact where it’s needed most.

We’re also in the process of launching a free app to expand our reach even further, making it possible for people to access these resources anytime, anywhere. Our approach is backed by neuroscience, and early results show significant improvements in behavior and health conditions, which is something we are most proud of. We’re working under the supervision of renowned researchers like Dr. Rollin McCraty at HeartMath to further explore the physiological benefits of our tools.

In short, what sets us apart is our commitment to providing simple, effective, and accessible solutions that can be used by anyone, anywhere, and are specifically designed to support public schools and underserved communities—all completely free of charge.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Yes! I love all things Dr. Joe Dispenza! I love his books, podcast interviews, and his retreats are outstanding! Of course, I use my own tools daily, and continue to do daily self-reflection, which helps me manage stress, and succeed as an ultramarathon runner.
