Today we’d like to introduce you to Kurt Buzick.
Hi Kurt, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I always wanted to be a witch when I grew up. I officially started learning about and practicing witchcraft and using it to help myself and others in 2013. I always struggled with finding my purpose or dream job because I didn’t realize the actual possibilities of having a metaphysical career. That was until 2021 when I discovered the University of Metaphysical Sciences where I am now currently enrolled and on my way to getting my Bachelors degree in metaphysics! Turns out there was a better path for me that wasn’t the traditional route schools had pushed me towards all my life. Around the same time, I realized the possibility of owning and running my own metaphysical shop one day could be reality, inspiring me to start Buzick Magick Supply Company. So I devised a plan, to become a wellspring of magickal resources in a manner that is affordable, safe and judgment free. Right now I’m focusing on crafting small batches and custom recipes of metaphysical products to aid in the health of your aura and heighten or personalize your spiritual practices. This includes infused oils, balms, candles and about anything you can imagine! All of which are only crafted under auspicious circumstances. I want everyone to recognize the name Buzick as basically a stamp that marks quality genuine magickal supplies. Not only that, I provide all manner of magickal services such as making charms or talismans, as well as casting spells or hexes. I am willing to perform all the duties of the clergy such as weddings, funerals, and pagan baby blessings (equivalent to baptisms). I am an ordained minister through Universal Life Church. Basically, I’m willing to craft, source or do anything to make sure a person has what they need to feel spirituality fulfilled. Right now Buzick Magick Supply Co is working closely with the Denver Magick Maker’s Market to grow each other and make our dreams of helping people with our magick a reality! The Denver Magick Maker’s Market is basically where I got my start peddling my wares and becoming a part of the Denver metaphysical community. There would be no Buzick Magick Supply Company without the Denver Magick Maker’s Market. I am now proud to be a part of their council helping to make decisions and work together to help the ever growing Denver Magick Maker’s Market into becoming the fantastic community it is today. The Denver Magick Maker’s Market is an immersive pop-up event for supporting local artists, pagans, witches and weirdos that focuses on creating safe spaces for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and all those on the fringes of society. One day, the Denver Magick Maker’s Market will be a brick and mortal store, a physical location where Buzick Magick Supply Co products along with all the best quality magickal items and art will be curated at affordable prices and free of judgment or hate.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a fantastic journey though not without challenges. I already knew how to craft several of my products but then making larger batches, along with labeling and packaging has been a challenge but a fun one at that. It was also a struggle finding a place to sell products until I met the Denver Magick Maker’s Market. That said, it is certainly a struggle to transfer products and making sure they remain undamaged. For that I’m thankful for my life partner, Dalton whose big brain and big muscles always come in handy. The most challenging part is making sure certain products like candles or balms and salves, especially if they are whipped don’t melt in the heat and get ruined. One of the hardest parts of this journey has got to be losing people who I thought were friends or at least our goals aligned but that was nothing of the sort. As a leading presence in my community, I have had to ban or stop working with certain people or groups to protect myself, my business and my friends or colleagues. Its sad to see how many practitioners are only interested in using and abusing others under the guise of a helpful and charismatic temple leader, sense, or guru. Other than that, the challenges are exciting and fun! If I ever need help, I have a lovely support system of family and friends I can call upon for assistance. Buzick Magick Supply Company would be nothing without the support of my community.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do witchcraft and everything that it entails. I craft charms, cast spells, clear energy, make potions, honor the dead, officiate marriages and read charms to determine one’s fate. I specialize in making bath and body potions with the intent to enhance or protect your energies therefore boosting manifestations. I am most known for Recover Butter my spiritual and emotional healing balm for dry and cracked skin, as well as The Huntsman a perfume oil of luck for body and spell-work, and genuine flying ointment now called Hexen Balm for astral projection and dream walking. I am most proud of Recover Butter as it seems to be something many folks need and everyone enjoys it’s aroma so much. I’m known for making all of my products very but not too fragrant so basically most of my potions can be worn as a perfumes. I think what sets me apart from others is not only the uniqueness and creativity in each of my products but also my willingness to make or source anything for anyone who asks nicely enough (and at a reasonable price). Even if an item or product that someone wants is not something I currently make I’m willing to give it a try and if I absolutely can’t make it, I will find it or someone who can thereby supporting another practitioner or artist in the community. More on readings, I specialize in Cleromancy also known as “bone throwing” which is basically the art of casting trinkets charms as a form of divination. Not only is it uncommon to find someone who does this divination my set of charms is unique to me and changes as I gain or potentially loose pieces. Therefore it is a “living set” adding to its allure for a unique and personal reading experience.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Google is a grimoir, it can conjure a plethora of magickal, herbalogical, and historical information right at your fingertips. Otherwise when it comes to books the Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells by Judika Illes, Llewellyn’s book of correspondences, The complete book of incense oils and brews Scott Cunningham, Entering Hekate’s Garden Cyndi Brannen are some of my main references for witchcraft. I also enjoy reading for fun in my spare time books like, Circe by Madeline Miller, Wizards Castle by Diana Wynne Jones and the Magicians Trilogy by Lev Grossman.
