Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Kaufman.
Hi Kyle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story is intertwined with a few different major life events. From family, to work, to my love of music. My dreams continue to be realized through my dedication to learning and educating. All while doing my best to balance family life with the most amazing wife and kids to boot. However, my story starts with the chance meeting of two kids in my middle school that, little did I know back then, would be the foundation of my adulthood. I might add, that both of these introductions happened in that school’s music classes.
I grew up with an amazing, and supportive family through my childhood (Love you Mom, Dad, and Karly!). Learning life lessons along the way through various athletic sports, family shakeups, and personal ventures. During all these years, I moved from Wisconsin to Colorado, to Minnesota, and back to Colorado again. However, it was my first stint in Colorado that left an impression on me that couldn’t be shaken.
I met my wife, Makayla, in band class during my 8th grade year. It was through a mutual friend, via MySpace, that ignited a middle school relationship, that eventually (through breakups and moves) would rekindle just 5 years later. Getting married, having kids, buying and selling homes together, has certainly built a tried-and-true relationship. That support would allow me to transition into my career.
Thanks to witnessing my mother-in-law, successfully, crank away in an industry called “Title”, I felt the need to improve myself from where I was at. At 20, I started my first position in Real Estate Title and quickly moved the ranks to Escrow Officer. After nearly 9 years with that company, I was blessed to have been offered the opportunity of a lifetime, to start a Title Company.
As C.O.O. and Senior Escrow Officer of Exact Title, I am lucky to work with so many amazing realtors, lenders, developers, and of course my amazing teammates! My goal has always been to educate through conversations and classes and to lead by example. There is nothing more rewarding than bringing an enormous amount of energy to a closing table and providing a positive experience to be remembered. Your largest investment should be celebrated!
I may dress a little more business-like during the day, but my side profession has been my passion since I first started to drum in 2nd grade. Music has been a part of my early childhood days from when my parents would showcase all the 80’s greats, like Journey, Styx, Def Leppard, REO Speedwagon, 38 Special, and many many more!
As my taste in music grew and evolved, my love shifted to modern rock to the likes of RED, Crossfade, Seether, Skillet, Saliva, Linkin Park, and even Nickelback! While I was taught by a great drum teacher (Shoutout Eric!) and many wonderful band teachers, I also expanded into self-teaching myself in guitar and piano. This immensely helped my songwriting style as I played in multiple bands.
Middle school not only introduced me to my now wife, Makayla, but it also cultivated a lifelong friendship from a chance meeting in Jazz band, with our band’s guitarist, Kelsey! Kelsey and I started our first band together, which is a great story in itself, called Fade to Grey, during my 7th grade year.
Due to a large family move after 8th grade, from Colorado to Minnesota, that band disbanded. However, the stars aligned for me to move back to Colorado to live with Makayla after a year in college. With the impending move, Kelsey and I decided to begin a new band, Thousand Frames. Kelsey and I have always shared a similar interest in music, but further explored building a brand together, and not just be another band.
Stylistically, our new record has shifted into a metalcore album, that is influenced heavily by the cinematic world of film music. As adults, our music expanded further, inspired by up-and-coming stars like Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Siamese, Smash Into Pieces, Starset, and Normandie! Coming up on 12 years as a band in 2024, we are excited to showcase what we’ve been brewing for many years!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a rocker dad/husband, with a career in real estate, carries many challenges. However, and it may sound a little corny, learning from your mistakes and moving forward with grace and positivity, has allowed me to balance these aspects of life. As a people person, I love to get to know folks through my connections, whether it’s music or real estate. I value those relationships, as they build genuine friendships.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As Chief Operating Officer and Senior Escrow Officer of Exact Title, I handle many different aspects of our business. Title companies close real estate transactions as a third party. We manage funds coming in and out, as well as the documents signed to appropriately transfer ownership to the new party, among many other functions.
As a decade+ escrow officer, I’ve closed over 4,000 transactions in the state of Colorado, ranging from residential homes, new build transactions, and commercial deals. My passion in real estate is to train and educate. I’ve started to build a catalog of material to continue to teach my fellow real estate entrepreneurs, whether as a realtor, lender, or developer.
The more we learn, the more we all win, by providing our clients with the most information to help make the most informative decision for their real estate investing. I’m an Escrow Officer first and will lend a hand to anyone in real estate looking to partner up. Let’s cultivate a positive experience for all!
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Patience is truly key. Learning title and music is a lifelong process and is not mastered quickly. Continue to be a sponge in your industry and you’ll see a whole new world opened up for possibilities and opportunities.
