Today we’d like to introduce you to Landon Russell.
Hi Landon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I went to college thinking I was going to be an attorney like my father, so I have a degree in English Literature and minors in psychology and economics. After working some summers at a law office I decided that it was not for me. My journey took me to New Orleans which was a great city, just not what I was looking for. I moved to Boulder since I had an older brother there. I was looking to just pick up a quick job and an escape room in Boulder was hiring a manager. I got the job even though I had never heard of an escape room. I worked on Pearl Street at an escape room called Enigma. I fell in love with the craft and stayed there for 6 years. Unfortunately the pandemic was a tough time for escape rooms and Enigma did not survive. I went on to create Atlas. I started in Boulder because that was what I was familiar with but then moved it to Longmont. We have been in business over 3 years and have 5 different puzzles.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting right after the pandemic was rough. Having to move from Boulder to Longmont was challenging but the right decision. We seem to be hitting our stride recently with a 5 star rating and over 350 reviews.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Atlas Escape Rooms we specialize in non-linear escape rooms. I try and create puzzles that keep the whole group engaged instead of just a few people. We want to make it a fun fast paced experience for the whole group the whole time.
