Check Out Lexi Cook’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Cook.

Hi Lexi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My professional journey started when I was just ten years old. I grew up with an awareness of the world and my place in it. I always knew I would be working for myself one day and helping others in my own unique way. At a very young age, I began “starting businesses” to make extra money during the summer and I truly found a passion in the creation process. I would form an idea, create a name, and start advertising! The first business I remember creating was Lexi’s Loop & Poop! I would take your pups around the block for a walk and then once we got back I would clean up all of the poops in your yard! Over the years I began to try to find more of my niche as I entered the typical 9-5 work atmosphere. I wanted to find a way that I could prosper while still staying true to myself, and in all honesty not sacrificing my physical or mental health. While the consistency of a steady paycheck was nice I began to notice the significant toll the “typical” jobs were taking on my body and mind. I bounced from being a hostess to a kennel tech to a production manager, a router, and even became a leasing professional for a time.

However, nothing fit my fancy and I knew I had to find my own way, and pave the path to success by my own terms. I needed something that fulfilled my creativity and management needs. I had been cleaning on the side as a means to make some extra money, and I had a fair amount of clients but unfortunately not enough to sustain myself fully. I thought over my options, did as much research as I possibly could, and decided that if something were to happen to me tomorrow I would not be happy doing what I was doing then. I decided to take an immense leap and got my business registered with the state, got insurance, and started advertising! I am beyond grateful still to this day that I took that leap and I am now thriving! At the end of the day, I couldn’t be happier! Don’t get me wrong, it is a lot of work. It’s an understatement to say that I am working 24/7. I am constantly responding to messages and thinking of new ways to get the word out but when it came down to it I would take this over any other job. Lexi’s Cleaning LLC is booked a month in advance, I have goals set in place to further my success, and I am beyond excited for what the future holds for me and my small business!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In all honesty, it has been a rough start and keeping the work steady. There’s always a first for everything is how I think of it. There will be the first client who cancels, the first to reschedule, and the first to have a complaint, but it’s how you respond to what you’re dealt. The key is to keep an optimistic viewpoint and understand that it will always get better as long as you keep working towards your goals.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I own a small solo cleaning business called Lexi’s Cleaning LLC. At the moment I specialize in residential cleanings which include move-outs, move-ins, and standard scheduled cleanings! What sets me apart is my drive to constantly improve myself and my business. Where I see room for improvement I strive to brainstorm ways to better myself in those areas. Consistency is key in this industry, I pride myself on my ability to ensure my cleaning is unvarying. Each area gets special attention when needed but on a regular basis, everything is cleaned to the upmost level of perfection.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
As much as I’d love every obstacle to pan out flawlessly, it doesn’t always work out that way. It’s important to understand that life goes up and down and to ride it out. Most importantly, never give up, you never know what’s on the other side of this obstacle. What goes down must always come back up.
