Check Out Lisa Vargas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Vargas.

Hi Lisa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, my name is Lisa, I’ve been a Denver native for 28 years, and I’m currently a stylist and makeup artist in Lone Tree! The beauty industry was always on my mind. As a little girl, I was always stealing my mom’s makeup or experimenting with different looks, I knew I wanted to play with it forever. When I was 21, I hit a very rough patch in life- I was nearly homeless and just found out I was pregnant, so I relocated to Dallas, Texas to be with my mom again.

After my firstborn’s passing shortly after birth, I became extremely lost. Nothing made me happy, I didn’t care for being lost, and I was going through life with absolutely no care.

Then, bring on covid!!

Covid literally saved that last bit of me that was giving up. As we all were locked in the house for months, I picked up a makeup brush again and it was like that very first time.

I left Colorado to live in Kansas City and attended cosmetology school for a year.

While in school, I got certified to do hair extensions, lash and brow lifts and tints and lash extensions!! I’ve never felt so at peace doing something until I stood behind that chair!

I moved back to Denver in May of 2022 and I’m currently working some days at a salon, De’Lylahs Hair and body in Lone Tree!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely NOT the smoothest road to walk on. After going through the hardest thing a parent should go through, I didn’t let it completely break me.

I pushed through knowing something great was calling my name, whether it was a career or my second daughter, I knew I needed to stay for a reason.

After having both, my daughters and my career, I’d say that rocky road was worth walking on. I couldn’t be more happy with how life molded me into the strong, confident, career-driven woman I am!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do any and all things beauty! I’m always open to learning and trying new things, and I think that’s one of the best parts that sets me aside from others. I’m always continuing my education in the beauty industry and applying those techniques to specific clients really exceeds, not just expectations but experiences all well.

Being known for doing makeup is a blessing, even though most people don’t think of it as a job, I find I’m getting by perfectly doing what I do.

Not only have I done makeup for Kansas City Fashion Week twice, but I’ve traveled to New York City to attend the NY makeup show, and I’ve been hired to do makeup in KC for Joico’s hair show!

The biggest thing that sets me aside from others is your experience!! Imagine getting coffee, or going out for lunch with a really close friend, Peaceful and stress-free, right?

That’s what it feels like whenever you’re in my chair. You can be a first-time client or a regular and we’ll converse like we’ve been friends for more than a decade. My biggest thing is to make sure you’re 100% comfortable and in love with how you look!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I think the only reason life matters now is my daughter, Aurora.

She is the light at the end of my tunnel, and I couldn’t be more blessed for being this girl’s mom.

After losing her sister four years prior, I was absolutely terrified. I knew if the same thing happened, nothing would matter. Once Aurora was placed in my arms, honestly, nothing else did matter. Only the feel of her tiny heart on my chest.

The day I knew everything I did matter, was when she got here and I haven’t given up or eased up since.
