Today we’d like to introduce you to Macie Bartel.
Hi Macie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Tethered is a brand built on family, resilience, and a genuine love for making others feel beautiful. Its foundation goes all the way back to my childhood. I was emancipated in high school, and in my early twenties, my middle sister and I became guardians of our youngest sister. We’ve been raising her together for the past five years, and that responsibility played a major role in shaping my work ethic and the direction of my career as a small business owner.
Three years ago, I took a leap and enrolled in esthetics school with the dream of being able to support myself and my family. The beauty industry gave me something I had never had before, professional confidence and independence, and a clear path to create something of my own. From there, I felt inspired to build a brand that combined my love for beauty with my determination to rise above the circumstances I came from.
What I didn’t expect was how meaningful permanent jewelry would become, not just for me, but for my clients. Whether it’s best friends, mothers and daughters or couples, I’ve been lucky enough to be part of some of their most special moments. I’ve learned that permanent jewelry represents more than a piece of metal. It’s a reminder of connection, love, and a moment they want to hold onto.
That meaning is exactly why I do what I do. Tethered has grown into something deeper than a jewelry brand. It’s a reflection of my story, my family, and the beautiful connections I get to create with my clients every single day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been difficult to build my business with no prior knowledge or direction, but at the same time it’s been extremely empowering overcoming those struggles on my own and learning new things everyday! I’ve learned that building a business or starting anything new is a lot of trial and error and that’s okay.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a permanent jewelry and brow artist located in Reunion, Colorado. I’ve combined my love for esthetics and jewelry to build my brand and business. I specialize in brow waxing, laminations, tinting, and custom sized permanent jewelry. My esthetics background gives me a huge advantage with permanent jewelry because my career has been built on customer service and building long lasting relationships.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
My favorite part about my neighborhood are the beautiful parks and the community here. People always make an effort to say hello and I’ve always felt extremely welcome and supported. I do wish we were a little closer to Denver, but 25 minutes isn’t bad!
