Check Out Madi Elle’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madi Elle.

Hi Madi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
When I was a kid, I was fascinated with the before and after photos of celebrities which, naturally, made me want to be a makeup artist. Unfortunately, coming from Montana, that job didn’t exist where I was in 2011. Instead, I focused on the math side and did three years of engineering in high school. But, I again changed my mind and went to school for Interior Design and Business Management in 2016. After graduation, I moved to Denver in 2019 to start my career as a designer. After nine short months, Covid was on the horizon and I was also getting really bored trying to create designs that I wasn’t excited about. I realized I was spending hours watching makeup artists online, so why not pursue it for real this time? But with Covid, what if I can’t ever touch someone’s face again? Because of that, I decided to do cosmetology as well to get the hair side of the beauty world for some more options. I did not expect to fall in love with hair as much as I did!

After I finished my hours for hair school, I was left with trying to find the avenue I wanted to go down. One of my friends mentioned a barbershop that is always looking for girls that can do color. Even though I wasn’t terribly confident in my clipper cuts, I thought I’d give it a shot. The manager hired me on the spot! Through all my nerves, I fell in love with fades, mullets, mohawks, and vivid colors.

My journey has been anything but direct, but it’s given me a well-rounded perspective that I can bring to my clients knowing I made my childhood dream come true.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
That path to here has been anything but smooth. I pushed hard in other directions which caused a lot of frustration, stress, and debt. However, knowing I tried other roads and failed makes me even more confident in choosing this career.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in out-of-the-box cuts and colors. I have tons of clients that have mullets or mohawks which make my heart sing! While I was starting on my own and in between shops, a few of my clients had to see another stylist.

I feel terrible their cuts didn’t come out the way they wanted but so grateful and proud that they know I’m the stylist for them when they come back! My clients come to chat and hang out with me, trusting that when they leave, they’re looking sharp and ready to take on the world!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love creating, simple as that. Whether it’s painting, a curated essential oil blend, a fresh fade, or styling for a photo shoot, I love taking someone’s vision and bringing it to life. Seeing the smile on someone’s face and the light in their eyes when I bring their thoughts to life warms my heart!
