Check Out Marcus Tenorio’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Tenorio. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Interpretive Tyranny started as a project from former School of Rock students Marcus Tenorio, Laura Steadman, Connor Griffin, and AJ Guy. AJ got us into a project intended to be a Metal band, and as we worked together more we realized our creative potential.

In 2020 we recorded and released Revolution with Marcus on Vocals and Bass, Connor on Guitar, and Laura on Bass. Aj had parted ways with the group at the time. As we wrote and recorded we realized that this rap-metal mixture was not the sound we were looking for in our art. It didn’t feel like us.

Our next iteration began with Alex Dahlager on bass guitar and Hayden Koontz on drums. They helped the band write our initial new Alt Rock repertoire, which was planning to put on an upcoming EP. Recently we’ve come into some artist differences between the band and Alex, he helped us make some great shows, we appreciate his contributions, and we are happy that he is moving in a direction he sees fit. We wish him the best.

We are excited to announce our new bassist Issac Roybal! Who we appreciate the effort while he manages or plays in bands like The Rocky Mountain Oysters, and Polish. We’re planning to get back on the road this winter with a new sound and lineup!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Lineup changes have been a massive setback but we know as a band that a step back is sometimes a step in the right direction for all parties.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a band, we take inspiration from all of each band member’s tastes and create our bizarre love child of all of our tastes. We pride ourselves on our exciting stage presence. Our shows show off the strangest sides of all of us as a band, hoping to always promise a great show. Our proudest group song is our song ‘Jam song’ one that’s featured on our Instagram and YouTube and is coming soon to our Ep we’re currently recording.

What was you like growing up?
Our band came from a mostly similar setting, Marcus from wheat ridge, Connor from Arvada, and Issac from Parker. We would’ve never met if it weren’t for the School of Rock.
