Check Out Mariah Gallegos’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariah Gallegos.

Hi Mariah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been a long-term lover of everything glam and glitter! My mom took me to MAC on my 13th birthday, and I haven’t looked back since! I shortly went to cosmetology school thinking I would love hair, of course, since things don’t always go as planned, and I quickly realized I loved doing makeup on others just as much as I loved doing my own. After attempting college, I slowly realized where my true passioned lied. I feel empowered to empower other women, and I wouldn’t choose another career, and I’m so grateful.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
For such a “glamorous” life I live, it isn’t always as glamorous. My makeup style isn’t for everyone, and I’m thankful to now have clients who want me for me, full glam and all! In high school, I remember getting told, “You look like a clown” and that I should wear “less makeup” or “You’re only pretty because you wear a full face,” all of that nonsense. I have experienced setbacks and judgment/criticism my whole life, and I am so thankful that I get to show others their most “glam” selves to empower women and can lead women to their full potential and self-worth.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
For the most part, I consider myself an artist. For The longest time, I can remember teaching my friends how to apply lashes or do a wing, and it’s always been second nature. I want to think I specialize in bridal glam. I get to make someone feel beautiful in their skin, but I always feel like I’m hanging out with a friend. Yes, my work may be an art, but I pride myself on providing a genuine connection with each person I work with. I’m proud of the connections I’ve built and proud of how I can give someone their dream appearance on one of their biggest days. Unique talent is to bring a sense of comfort, and it can be a high anxiety type of day. Not every bride feels comfortable being the center of attention. I feel like I can give some ease and light to the morning. I always come well prepared, with a great attitude and sometimes some great jokes. I like that I can grant some sense of ease and lightheartedness to the day!

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My cousins are my world, and I wish they all knew their impact on my career. Being the youngest of many girls and an only child, they were my inspiration. They have always been “flew” from head to toe and set trends for everyone, including me. I credit them for my flair and habit of being the most put together in any room, from putting on our fashion shows to going shopping, making music videos, or having one of many sleepovers. I’ve always appreciated their fashion, forward-thinking and creative touch. I owe it all to them, from my fashion approach to my flair. They are, to this day, some of my biggest role models and people that I can always count on throughout any venture in my life. Another shoutout I would like to include is someone who came later in life, my best friend, Arianna. Though we have only known one another for a shorter time than my cousins, you have greatly impacted my life and continued to be a part of some of my biggest learning lessons.
