Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisol Gomez. 

Hi Marisol, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello!!! My name is Marisol Gomez and I am the owner and the Certified Balloon Artist of Fantastic Balloon. My adventure began in 2009 when I wanted to throw a party for my daughter and I couldn’t find options to decorate, I saw that I needed a company that would provide quality and innovative decorations. My sister is a very prestigious Balloon Artis in Tijuana, Mexico and she came to Colorado to give me an intensive course. After that, balloons have been my life. I have participated in world conventions where I have worked and learned from decorators from all over the world. I love it! Because now I have friends all over the world. This company, in addition to providing incredible decorations and great costumer service, gives work to mothers whose main job is to take care of their children and in their free time they work by my side. 

Now, I was chosen as part of a talented team of international balloon professionals tasked with creating a gigantic, immersive balloon creation with Qualatex balloons at the Balloon Wonderland event in Orlando, Florida, all in aid of the charity Give Kids the World. 

Nearly four hundred balloon artists will join at the Hyatt Cypress Regency Hotel in Orlando from July 11th through July 15th, 2022 for Balloon Wonderland. In being part of this event, one of the largest, most unique balloon projects,, I’ll be using my skills that I have developed over the last 13 years to create several fantastical themed areas such as Toyland, the Enchanted Forests, and Under the Sea in an area of nearly 30,000 sq. ft, with displays towering as high as 24ft in height.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy, opening a business and having to wear the different hats on my own has been difficult, I started by creating my own website, doing the accounting, and creating innovative decorations among other roles that I had to assume in the company, at the beginning I reinvested almost all the profits in machinery and education, it was hard work but I had my family who supported me all the time and businesses like Mi Casa Resource Center where I have always received support and education in every step I take. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We create classic balloon decorations like arches, columns, and amazing sculptures. My work is the best!! The other Balloon Artist in the area are my friends, we are like family. 

I specialize on balloon sculptures with thousands of balloons, one of my favorites is a giant Octopus 🐙 50 ft long that we created for a 1st Birthday, more than four thousand balloon, and 6 peoples working during 16 hours. This amazing Octopus was hanging from the ceiling over the dancing floor, around the party were Octopus columns and mermaid arches, it was amazing, I love clients that let us dream and create amazing memories. 

What do you think about luck?
I don’t think that luck is part of what happens in my professional or personal life, it’s all about being persistent, setting goals and achieving them, being an honest person, and treating people with respect. I firmly believe that we are co-creators of our destiny. I still have goals to meet but that depends on me.
