Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryia Walker.
Hi Maryia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I moved to the USA from Belarus 8 years ago and a year later, I started painting as a hobby for myself. I was feeling homesick and this new hobby helped me to live through the difficult emotions. I was working as an accountant at first and I remember how strongly I wanted to pick up a brush one day and just paint something for fun. I did not have canvas at home at that time, so I did my first sunset painting at the Nike shoe box!
The next artworks came out on real canvas of course but I still have a very warm feeling of this first art. It felt so peaceful and like an at-home painting. And the fact that I did not have all the tools at the moment did not stop me! I love how deeply connected with myself I feel when I am in the studio and how big I was able to transform my life thanks to this beautiful process of creating art. At first, I was painting landscapes, copying famous artists, and just spending time after work developing my taste in art. Over time I realized that I liked abstract language more because I can express myself deeper through abstract expressionism with the focus that beauty can exist outside the form.
Later, I developed a theme of an energy painting. When I was painting, I was intuitively manifesting the dreams and desires that I wished to have in life. And to my surprise, a lot of things have started to come to my life! I saw art as more than just passion, it opened up to me almost like a portal that invited me to go on a wonderful journey to bring my subconscious resources to life. I learned how to smooth out worries and fears, distracting beliefs, and just surrender to the senses and instincts of my body embracing the feeling of freedom and being a creator in my life, I was able to quit my career in accounting and fully focus on my creativity.
My artworks have been exhibited in Italy, France, Japan, Germany, Turkey, and the US with publications in magazines (Power of Creativity/US and Aesthetics/UK) and I was also awarded in the exhibition “Woman Essence. The Woman of the Contemporary Art” by MUSA INTERNATIONAL 2023. Now outside of creating art collections, I hold art events helping other women to find their true voice, embrace their feminine and creative energy, and learn how to paint. My goal is to bring people closer to their essence and evoke raw energy by perceiving the language of abstract reality inviting us to dive into the deep roots of the great beginning.
I love inspiring people to awaken their true artist within and transform their lives into the best version of it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I remember I always thought that being an artist must be a struggling job and it would be hard to stay occupied with it, But I know it was just a distracting belief that I had, and after working through it a new world opened up for me. I am sure now that it is so important to follow the passion, it ignites from the inside and lights the way not just for one person but for many people around.
I had a hard time trusting my passion and it felt easier to be on the safe and stable side of life. But the more I was painting the more I wanted to surrender to it and risk it all! Art helped me to transform my personality as I became more, allowing myself to be whoever I wanted and following my truth.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an energy artist, I primarily focus on the quality of the energy I am putting into the painting and work with the energy vibrations to make each artwork a unique and delicate imprint of the raw and unfiltered energy derived from both physical and non-material worlds.
My deep level of sensitive and subtle perception helps me to create artworks enriched with powerful vibrations that influence the state of the person looking at it and transform it beautifully and uniquely. I explore connections unseen to my eyes and pass them onto the canvas with the help of colors adding nothing else but the beauty outside the form.
The transformative energy my artworks carry is one of the crucial messages. I always ask myself: does my body respond to it? One of the goals is to share with the audience the rich level of energy allowing people to experience a deeper connection with the subconscious level and explore the feelings of joy, pleasure, connection, love, and abundance.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see myself doing more art events teaching people how to paint freely and connect deeper with their passion.
I also plan to open my art gallery and work with multiple artists around the world owning my studio where I continue painting and creating beautiful collections.
