Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Martinez.
Hi Michael, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a business mindset. I enjoy working because a lot of the time it doesn’t feel like work. I get to enjoy what I do, express my creative mind, and build authentic relationships!
I’m in my mid-20s, just trying to build myself and find my path! Like all of us at some point. I feel I’m on a great path, and for all those who help me grow, I owe a thank you!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Sometimes it’s smooth, and at times is rough. I think we all experience this in our lives. We’re searching for purpose, and that purpose changes as life evolve. It’s important we can also evolve!
We all have struggles in life. We all have triumphs in life. It’s how you use all these unique opportunities to better your life. I try to remember, that everything happens for a reason… just find the lesson, learn and grow!
Self-reflection is most important to me in moments of challenge. I self-reflect, evaluate what I could change/enhance, and celebrate what I did great.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I graduated from cosmetology school, at Aveda Institute Denver in 2015, at 18 years old. I knew I wanted to make an impact in the industry and find my way into doing so. I worked hard in a salon for numerous years and loved it. I knew I had another calling of sorts, and that’s when I found education!
I’m currently the education specialist at Aveda Institute Denver (back where I began). I started as a cosmetology educator and worked my way into my position. I have a passion for social media and digital branding, and was able to branch out as AID’s branding champion, as well! I appreciate them for believing in me! I love connecting with my students, seeing their growth, and helping them grow with them!
In the process, I found my new salon home, Centre Salons Colorado. I’m the digital brand director for their 4 locations. I continue to take guests one day a week (yes, I’m busy but I love it). The Centre has been a great support to me and help me continue to grow!
I found a passion for photoshoots, editorials, and runway work. It’s brought me a lot of joy and motivation to be my best! I co-founded UnOrtho Creatives with my business partner, Justin Householder Sr.
UnOrtho Creatives is a creative team. We want to build connections with other creatives, to help them build their brand and business! We can consult creative ideas with you, and help bring them to life to market your business! Education is our base of love, and we want to grow and share with all! We are growing and would love to work with you! Please, reach out for a consultation anytime!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I describe myself as an introvert dressed like an extrovert (Thanks RuPaul). As a child, I was much more shy, timid, and nervous. As a teenager and young adult. I was a bit more wild, rebellious, and extroverted! Now I find myself in between! Just about balance!
I’m a Pisces. I daydream a lot. Pisces finds “worship” in all places, and may feel like being outside in nature is what they most need to recalibrate their spiritual side.
