Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Gwin.
Hi Michele, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In late 2014 I made the difficult decision to leave a very successful 17-year career in Federal Contracts Management and Negotiation to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a Real Estate Agent. In April of 2015, I became licensed and began building my career in Real Estate working under the leadership of an outstanding group of Agents, and under the direction of a fabulous mentor who I am proud to call a friend to this day.
My early success in Real Estate was driven in large part by survival! I worked diligently to recreate the lifestyle my family and I had become accustomed to during my years of being paid on salary. The adjustment from salary to commission only was very challenging, yet in hindsight, very rewarding. In fact, overcoming this challenge became somewhat of an addiction-driven in large part by not only keeping my family and I secure in the lifestyle to which we had become accustomed but also by quickly realizing “the sky’s the limit” in the world of being an entrepreneur. I grew more hungry by the day! I knew almost instantly; entrepreneurship was quickly becoming the new love of my life!
Even so, there is no greater passion for Real Estate than I have for the pure joy it brings me to help better someone’s life through education and success in investing in Real Estate. Once I had fallen in love with being an entrepreneur, which brought me the confidence I needed to succeed, I quickly pivoted my focus to what drove me to becoming a Real Estate Agent in the first place; helping people realize dreams using Real Estate as their vehicle.
It is with both my enthusiasm for being an entrepreneur and my passion for adding value to people’s lives through Real Estate that I believe I am where I am today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to a thriving Real Estate business has been challenging, yet enjoyable. For me, the biggest challenge has been establishing a value-add that is genuine, captivating, and unique as I strive to set myself apart from the tens of thousands of Real Estate Agents in the Denver Metro area. With every family I am fortunate to have advocated for in Real Estate, I have been afforded the opportunity to mindfully create thoughtful, positive, experiences and friendships with (and for) hundreds of thousands of people in the past 7 years. Few things have ever been so rewarding in my lifetime!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a residential Real Estate Agent in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas. Additionally, I am a Team Lead providing leadership and guidance to a team of other Real Estate agents who share the same value and work ethic as I do. Most recently I have become a Certified Real Estate Coach and provide Real Estate coaching services to agents at all levels in their career, nationwide.
It’s very difficult to single out any one aspect of my career and brand I am most proud of! I am deeply committed to educating clients in all aspects of Real Estate to ensure they have positive experiences. As my career has developed, I find I am nearly equally passionate and proud about sharing my knowledge of Real Estate with my peers. Perhaps what I would say I’m most proud of is my ability to translate positive experiences in Real Estate with others, whether they be consumers or industry participants. I feel I am adding value when I see others succeeding. My ability to share empathy while providing education to empower decision-makers is my vehicle for providing value-add and is what I believe sets me apart from others.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
YES! I have learned so much since the Covid pandemic! With respect to Real Estate, I’ve always viewed this pandemic as an opportunity to “pivot”. Which is to solve; how do we accomplish the face-to-face aspect of the Real Estate business in a new, refreshed, value add way that compliments both the experience and the products. While it’s been challenging to find and implement solutions, it’s also been extremely rewarding and educational. In terms of the impact the pandemic has had on everyday life, I can say with complete confidence that I’ve only grown to learn that I am more capable of connecting with people in creative ways through the use of technology than I ever thought possible. The pandemic has definitely brought me outside of my comfort zone and I’ve found I welcome the challenge with open arms.
