Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Rowley.
Hi Nicholas, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Originally from Iowa, I am a Trial Lawyer with a national trial practice. I was able to go to college and law school because I served in the military. I am an author of multiple books on trial practice and the founder of TrialByHuman.com. I partnered up with Jason Jordan, Ross Harrington and the other lawyers of Jordan Harrington & Rowley to form a TL4J.com branch in Colorado to help represent serious injury victims and families get the justice they are entitled to under our jury system. I am a father of 11 children, married to an amazing trial lawyer and author who is often my trial partner Courtney Rowley. Proud to have an active law practice with great partners in Colorado. I practice law with my partners, Jason Jordan is the firm’s managing partner in Colorado.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing up was not smooth at all. I was kicked out of every school I ever attended. The military was my only option being from a small town of less than 3,000 people. You can read an article about me in the Jefferson Herold http://www.beeherald.com/news/justice-all.
I was a military medic and learned medicine and started trying cases for injury victims right out of the shoot when I passed the bar on the first attempt.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love the outdoors and have a ranch in Big Sky Montana where I spend as much of my free time as I can. My wife and I are building schools and putting in water wells in Kenya, Africa. We also have a nonprofit in Costa Rica focused on protecting the environment and ocean. I grew up very poor and now have the ability to make a difference in the world, I am dedicated to that. Our program Trialbyhuman.com is dedicated to helping train lawyers to care about their clients and have the courage and skill to take cases to trial and trust in the jury trial method which is truly the last battle line we have left to fight against the elitism that controls our country and world.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes, I’ve learned that time is precious, a priceless asset we can never get back once it passes by. The silver lining of the Covid pandemic is that I got so much more time with my family, my children. Now that we are back to being busy again, I miss that and am working to organize my life to not work as much.
