Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam, Ana, and Claire.
Hi Sam, Ana, and Claire, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The three of us first met in 2013 as college freshmen in Dallas, bonding over our love for food. Back then, escaping dorm food to try new spots off-campus was always an adventure, and that’s when the idea of starting a food Instagram came up—just as a way to document the meals we loved.
Flash forward to 2022, and by a twist of fate, we all ended up in Denver! That’s when Girls Eat Denver really took off. Now, it’s our favorite way to dive into Denver’s incredible food scene, meet amazing people, share the joy of discovering delicious new spots, and take a breather from our busy daily lives.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve always approached Girls Eat Denver as a passion project among friends. Balancing our busy lives with the account can be tricky at times—Claire is a nurse and currently studying to become a nurse practitioner, Ana is a dentist, and Sam teaches third grade. Even with our packed schedules, we’ve made Girls Eat Denver a priority because it not only supports our business but also gives us the perfect reason to get together, enjoy good food, and spend quality time with each other.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re all about uncovering the best of Denver’s food scene—whether it’s a new hotspot, a beloved neighborhood joint, or a tucked-away café you’d never expect. From late-night bar bites to early morning bakeries, we’re constantly on the lookout for flavors that excite us and experiences that surprise us.
But beyond the great meals, what we truly value are the relationships we’ve built with local chefs, restaurant owners, and fellow food lovers. Girls Eat Denver has evolved from a fun side project to a real business, complete with set goals, partnerships, and a clear vision. Watching it grow from just an idea into something tangible has been the most rewarding part of the journey.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Our favorite childhood memory was coming into the city for special occasions! We (Sam & Claire) grew up in the suburbs of Denver, so we always remember birthday dinners at Sushi Den, tea at the Brown Palace, and exploring Larimer Square as kids.
