Check Out Sarah Puckett’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Puckett.

Hi Sarah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always documented my life – detailed journals as a kid, my semester abroad blog, and now Instagram and my travel blogs. The drive to document my life has always been a significant part of me, but it wasn’t until adulthood that I discovered my passion for travel. Before finding our forever home in Golden, Tim and I traveled to over 70 countries together. Prior to these travels, Tim and I each had an unhealthy relationship with drinking and partying. While traveling the world together, our priorities shifted to more meaningful experiences, especially experiences outside. We believe this shift reset the trajectory of our lives and that it would not have been possible without discovering our shared passion for outdoor adventures. In 2018, we began posting our travels on Instagram and eventually built a community of over 50,000 “Organized Adventurers”. Now, we are going all in on exploring Colorado and the southwest and documenting our adventures as we go. We know the life-changing power of the outdoors, and we want to show people, especially those who also live in Colorado, that you don’t have to go far to find these experiences. We recently launched our new website, thatcoloradocouple.com, where we are sharing our Colorado bucket list experiences and practical advice and tips to help others responsibly explore Colorado, too.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest challenges on the road to building a creative business are, for me, internal. It’s easy to second-guess yourself and question whether you belong in this space. I think every creator and blogger can identify with the feeling of imposter syndrome. Breaking down that mindset and truly believing in the value we can offer to others has been the biggest key to unlocking our business’ potential.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We help others hike, road trip, and visit national parks. We photograph and film our own experiences, which we share daily on Instagram, and write detailed guides for our blogs. We’re known for our landscape photography and tripod selfies. Sarah is also a writer, having published travelogues, guides, and personal essays in several print and digital journals. We’re unique because we straddle the line between established career professionals and full-time travel and adventure. We aren’t budget backpackers. But we also aren’t sit-by-the-pool-all-day types. We sit at the intersection of luxury and adventure for people who want the thrills but also want them in comfort.

How do you define success?
Doing the things your childhood self wanted your adult self to do.
