Check Out Shorty ADTR’s Story

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shorty ADTR.

Shorty ADTR

Hi Shorty, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hi, I’m Shorty! I started out tattooing four years ago in a small shop in Aurora.

Ever since I was 11 years old, I always wanted to be a tattoo artist. I wanted to help people love themselves with my art, and I strive for that every day. How I got to where I am now is that I found something that I love and surrendered to it.

Tattooing is my entire world. I absolutely adore it with every inch of myself. I work every day, offer a lot of free tattoos, did seminars, and I still do these things to expand my knowledge to provide the best I possibly can for clients.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The hardest part of tattooing/being creative is yourself. I don’t think I’ve ever once had the thought or feeling that this is an easy/smooth road. It’s a part of who you are as an artist.

There are so many hurdles that I’ve faced especially when I was starting out and not really knowing what I was doing most of the time. Even to this day I still am hard on myself as an artist of “be better” and honestly there’s no end to that mindset.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do neo trad, black work/ dark calligraphy tattoos! (I’m known for my color work with the hints of black work mixed in).

The thing I’m most proud of is when a client or someone sees the tattoo, and they instantly know it’s me because of the style. I don’t think anything really sets me apart from other artists besides that I’m known for my love for ADTR and I’m known as the “ADTR tattoo artist”.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most of the time people are shocked to know that I’m only 24 years old and I’m heavily covered in tattoos and I’m successful with my career. I’ve only been tattooing for four years and that usually shocks people as well!
