Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamra Collins.

Hi Tamra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Tamra Collins and I currently reside in Richmond, VA with my husband and 2 children. I actually went to school for American Sign Language Interpretation and switched career paths after the birth of my second child. The desire to create and be home with my little ones was strong and I started experimenting with different skincare solutions in my kitchen. Best Life Beauti started from a need for more natural skincare solutions for my family. My daughter in particular, had been having some skin issues at a young age and after much trial and error, our first product, Foaming black soap, was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a business’ story that didn’t have a few bumps along the road and we are no different. I had this idea for a natural skincare company since 2017, but I was so intimidated that I did not launch until late 2018. At the time, I was a stay-at-home mom on a tight budget and just a couple of hundred dollars to start. With the support of my husband and other family members and friends, I finally created an Etsy page and signed up for a few vendor events to sell my products. Although they were a hit, I had to learn so much about the business side of things. I was severely underpricing my items and I was not keeping up with some inventory. Once I got more organized, business savvy, and invested more into marketing, things started to take off from there.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the owner and founder of Best Life Beauti, a vegan skincare company. We specialize in natural skincare solutions for sensitive skin. We are most known for our foaming black soap, which is a facial cleanser that helps reduce acne, dark marks, and redness. The foaming black soap is not only our top seller but it is the first product that I created and I am so proud of it. Best Life Beauti is committed to excellent customer service and a personalized experience. My customers are so amazing and I’ve made some great connections and friendships along the way.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned and that I’m still actively learning is that needing help isn’t a bad thing. Being able to take a few things off of my plate not only helps with my stress levels it is critical for the development and growth of my company.
