Check Out Taylor Cislo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Cislo.

Hi Taylor, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
As a freshman at the University of Colorado Boulder, I had gone to a student involvement fair eggar to find something based around music. I stumbled across Program Council, a student organization geared towards live events such as concerts, comedy, and more.

During my time at Program Council I have worked my way up from VIP list coordinator, Public Relations Director, and Marketing Director, and now hold the title of overall Director of the organization. I oversee a staff of 15 individuals and can live my dream of working in the entertainment industry. I have worked with names such as Lil Yachty, John Mulaney, Felly, Noel Miller and so many more! I am so happy to say that I have had the opportunity of a lifetime to work with this organization.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a full-time student with a very heavy credit load, being an intern at an agency, and working as a server on the weekends, it has been very challenging trying to balance my workload. I am the type of person who “bites off more than they can chew” but I always manage to get everything done. This position has taught me how to organize my life both professionally and personally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As the director of the Program Council, I am responsible for almost everything. I specialize in overall event planning which is very nitty gritty. I do things like venue sourcing/booking, talent booking, marketing management, security/safety, transportation, hospitality, staff scheduling, budgeting, and more!

Program Council is known mainly for CU Boulder’s biggest concert at the beginning of the year, Welcomefest. We also have big comedy shows every year, local acts in our venue on campus monthly, and a film series screening every Friday. I am most proud of creating a music community at CU. Music is a big part of my life and being able to bring in students to a plethora of different shows!

I am different from most due to my involvement in the music industry as a whole. Not many students (I am 21!) can say that they have done the things I have accomplished. I have successfully been a part of 6 large-scale events with high-profile talent and created a good sum of revenue for the organization.

What matters most to you?
Something that I am passionate about is building community. Music is huge when it comes to creating community. Putting on live events for students to make memories at is very rewarding. I want people to look back at their time in college and think about how these experiences have shaped them.

Not only does student experience matter to me but my staff is also extremely important to me. I want to help build up the future music/entertainment professionals by creating these events. These events are all student-run and this learning experience is much more than just sitting in a classroom. My staff is the most outstanding group of individuals and I am so thankful that they look up to me as their Director.
