Check Out Trevor Olsen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Olsen

Hi Trevor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My parents moved to Vail in 1979 and my mom started selling real estate there in 1989 so you could say I grew up in the business of Colorado Real Estate. After going to college at Arizona State University, I moved to Los Angeles where I worked as an actor. I did not have any “big” roles, mostly working on a few TV pilots and commercials. The only thing that’s easy to find is a Levis spec commercial that is still on YouTube. Though my roles were small, I was able to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) where I currently serve on the board of the Colorado local. I returned home to Colorado in 2012 and obtained my real estate license in 2016. I started my career in Vail before moving to Denver in 2017 to be closer to my girlfriend, now wife, Ashley. At that time, I joined Greystar Property Management as a community manager, overseeing large multifamily apartment buildings while I continued to build my own Real Estate Business. Ashley and I got married in 2019 and have since had two children, our 2yr old daughter and our 4 month old son. I left Greystar in 2022 to pursue Real Estate full time and over the past 9 years I have worked with people
from all walks of life- from first time homebuyers to clients purchasing pied-a-terres and investment properties. I’m passionate about helping people realize that homeownership is an attainable goal for them. As such, one of my big initiatives is to help first time homebuyers get access to state programs that can give them up to $25,000 to help with their down payment and utilize my unique knowledge of multifamily housing to help them break their current lease for free when they buy a home. To help get the word out, I set up a website (www.rentertohomeownerco.com) in addition to using social media (@trevorolsenre). Starting in March, I will have a tent at the Santa Fe Arts District First Fridays Art Walk on the corner of Santa Fe and 10th where I look forward to helping more Colorado residents realize their homeownership dreams!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the defining moments of struggle for me was during the 2008 financial crisis. As a college student I was incredibly lucky to have a mother who was able to afford to pay for my tuition and living expenses while I studied. When the market crashed, my options were- figure out how to pay my own way or leave school. I started to research every option for financial aid and, with the help of subsidized student loans & Pel grants, I was able to finish my studies. I learned a lot of lessons about fiscal responsibility and how government programs can create massive benefits enabling individuals to obtain their full potential.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I sell residential real estate in the Denver Area. I have a lot of experience in the high end + vacation market, I am passionate about helping first time home buyers.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The Real Estate Industry has seen some major attention over the past few years and for good reason in my opinion. For too long the National Association of Realtors has had a stranglehold on the industry and its professionals and I think what we are seeing now is going to lead to more transparency and access for the consumer.
