Check Out Troy Nottz’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Nottz.

Hi Troy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started back in 1997 being self taught learning how to DJ on vinyl records. I actually caught the DJ bug back when I was 12 years old when my cousin was, a DJ from Ohio was DJing a house party, back in the 80s . Back then, if someone was short on rent people would come together to help raise money. We called them rent parties. People would pay a fee to come into the party to dance, eat, and enjoy the music the DJ played. For me, it was the selection of music he was playing and the way he was bringing the tracks in from one song to another. From that day on, I knew that was what I wanted to do.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
With anything you do, it’s never a smooth road. You have to take the good with the not so good. The struggles along the way will always be there in some way shape or form. There will always be people or things that will test your strength. You have to adapt to whatever the situation is at hand.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Being a DJ is a calling for me. I’ve been a part of music most of my life. I had a great music teacher. Mr. Duran taught me how to read sheet music and play the saxophone. From there, I first learned how to make music on a Roland 909 for my band class final . He gave me an A! From there it’s been a passion of mine. I’m known for knowing how to make it happen. Through good people like Robert Salazar (THC), Art Foren, AJ Valasques (42 Records) I was blessed to Open up for quite a few famous people and be a part of the Northern Colorado Hip Hop Scene. Shout out to Richard Ross (DJ Multi Mix) DJ Jay Jones, Shawn Turner (DJ Sabotage) Rodney (DJ Law), and DJ K.O. What sets me apart is I don’t use a set playlist or a rehearsed set. I go off of true emotion. I let the music take me where it wants to go.

What’s next?
I just launched my website, Troy Nottz Entertainment Services earlier this year. It’s for anyone who would like to book me for their special events. I do corporate events as well. You can find out more at troynottzent.co.site. I also launched my own clothing line as well. People can also check me out on my Saturday Night Mix Show on Mixcloud, and I’m on The Konnected Radio station on Friday nights from 8pm Est 6pm MST 5pm PST. My biggest changes for me was being more dedicated and focused on how I create.
