Check Out TTLP’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to TTLP.

Hi TTLP, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’ve always been involved in music growing up, band, choir, theatre, in fact, I was the only football player to be in theatre. I started making my own music just for the fun of it my freshman year of college. I saw some of these other folks doing it and I was like, “I know I can do better than them”. So, I got off my butt n started grinding it’s been nearly two years now and I’ve never looked back

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not, to this day I still struggle with keeping confident and not losing my cool over little bumps in the road. It’s taken me a while to realize that people only support you when you’re doing good, only real ones support the come-up.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I feel like I’m the hottest out here in Colorado. Everyone out here either tries to sound like surrounding areas like Cali or Chicago etc. or is a gimmicky wannabe who can’t release anything besides remixes and parodies but I honestly feel like I just sound like me. I write all my own music, buy rights to original beats and tear up the track every time, that’s what stands me apart, originality.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Seeing as I was in college most of the pandemic, I’ve definitely learned the importance of financial literacy and how finances can affect your music career. Even though everyone says, “They came from nothing,” it takes money to make money. And what I mean by that is in order to gain traction and really blow up, you need to invest in promotion, studio time, music videos, clothes, etc. it’s not all about just rapping good. Shoot, I got a bunch of folks back home who rap like they already signed with a label, but what helps separate you from the rest, is self-investment.
