Today we’d like to introduce you to Yovita Wihardi.
Hi Yovita, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve got my start in the business after one of my neighbors suggested that I should be in charcuterie-making business when I made my first charcuterie board for her birthday. So I got my Instagram account set up in May 2019 and started posting my work there. In October 2019, the Feed Feed and Della Lo Food held a charcuterie board contest in which I become one of the finalists. I also got featured in some of the media/big companies like Food Network Canada, Better Homes and Garden, Shape magazine, William Sonoma, etc. That is how I got here today. I only do on Instagram. Aside from making platters, I also do some food styling/food photography for the brand.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My challenge is how to split the time between family and business that I had just started. I worked for 16 years in the Financial industry before becoming an Entrepreneur. So started my own business was a learning curve for me from getting my website set up, the accounting, the marketing stuff and also preparing for the platter it self such where to source the ingredients, etc.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
They are actually a lot of things that people don’t realize are involved in making platters. From putting my thought into the design, making all the list of ingredients, doing the groceries, washing/prepping all the foods and assembling them onto the platter. I like to challenge myself and to please my client by creating a design based on the occasion.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is when I see my client’s reactions when they received the platter or when they posted in Instagram. It’s like all your hard work is paid off.
