Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvette Foose. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Buena Vista Handmade started during the pandemic as Yvette (owner) made face masks to give away, then later, sold them at markets since they became popular.
This led to her creative side of hand-making unique jewelry pieces made with clay and wire wraps made with sterling silver. It’s been such a pleasure being able to create at home while caring for a one-year-old. Buena vista means “pretty view” in Spanish and we hope to bring pretty views to you with our handmade products.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been a lot of late nights and some struggles with having a little one in the household but it has all been worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Something that I have been in love with lately has been upcycling garments. I will take a man’s button-up and turn it into a modern, women’s cropped top.
I also upcycle vintage fabrics I find into doggie bandanas. This has brought me so much joy lately and customers are truly getting something that is one of a kind and is helping the environment.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I do say I am very lucky to have a business that started cause of the pandemic and still exists today. I also think luck only takes so you so far. Hard work comes into play and that can make or break a business.
