Today we’d like to introduce you to Andréa D. Wells.
Hi Andréa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Sometimes it takes being kicked off of the path for you to realize it’s not yours. That’s what happened to me. I worked in property management which at the time felt like a great fit. For 6 years rentals and residents were my focus and I enjoyed the industry. My property was beautiful and I truly found joy in helping people find their new place.
I was the assistant manager, which usually is the “Bad Cop” job onsite. So, to do it well, and with less stress on yourself, you have to develop a rapport of trust with your residents. Which is where I thrived. I quickly discovered that my residents trusted me not only with the details of their home lives but also wanted my insights on their romantic issues. Half of my workday turned into people dropping by the office to chat about their romantic lives seeking guidance.
Somewhere along the way, I started to realize that those types of interactions made me feel like I was acting in my purpose. I think when we have an awakening everything in our reality shifts to support it. My shift was a change in management that made my work environment no longer pleasurable. I could no longer deny to myself that where I was didn’t fit Fear and a lack of clarity kept me from moving. But I was still being called to go. So, because I didn’t move on my own, circumstances moved me.
The new management had decided that the old people were no longer a fit and severance us out of there. That push ushered me into a higher level of awareness concerning my purpose. I suddenly remembered my third-grade lil’ self orchestrating a couple’s walk around the field during recess where I made kids hold hands and talk. I remembered the countless hours of conversations in high school with friends about crush issues.
I remembered the foundation of virtuous teaching I was given by my mother as a started my teen years and how that had shaped my own dating experience. Then it was like God dropped an advertisement for IPEC (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching) in front of me. With the support of my amazing best friend and husband, I completed the program and started my relationship coaching and matchmaking practice in 2018.
I am creative at heart and my process with my clients reflects that. I utilize restorative stretch and meditation partnered with coaching to help singles and couples attain and maintain love. I can say I’m truly blessed to be able to wear a lot of different hats and be of service. I am completely clear now that in whatever capacity I am being used, my purpose is to help people love and free themselves as I do the same.
That I don’t have to sacrifice any parts of myself but use them all together for my purpose and God’s glory.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has been a labor of love. Sometimes it’s hard to be the new kid on the block, wondering if anyone even sees you. I had no real idea of how to get clients.
I felt insecure about being new and questioned if anyone would trust me. I had to keep looking forward, ask God to guide me as I believed, and visualized that what was placed on my heart would come through if I kept watering my gift.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for bringing outrageous levels of loving high energy to whatever I do. Alongside Relationship/Dating Coaching & Matching I am a cycle & restorative stretch coach at Vasa. I teach energy play, mirror work, and etiquette workshops.
I love the developmental & behavioral work I do with children and enjoy teaching them how to recognize healthy dynamics for relationship building. I’m different from other coaches because of my creative and at times unconventional ways of getting people to connect with their hearts.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I’ve learned that my lessons will continue as long as I live. No matter how much I’ve learned that there’s still much more to discover. Especially when it comes to love.
