Community Highlights: Meet Candace Wallace of W2 Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Wallace.

Hi Candace, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After 15 years of being a professional makeup artist, I decided to pursue another passion, marketing and social media. I began using social media and digital marketing as a business tool when I was working as a makeup artist in Los Angeles building my first Wix website in 2009. My husband is very tech-savvy and taught me how to use the software. Fast forward to 2018 when I decided to leave makeup, I knew I wanted to help build brands, work in social media and help market other small businesses like I had been doing for myself all this time. I started out small having family and friends as my first clients and was only working a few hours a week. Then the pandemic hit, my husband and I both saw it as an opportunity to create w2marketing & launch our business together. With his knowledge in coding and mine in marketing, we launched it in July and by 2021 we had over a dozen clients and had hired a few freelancers to help us with the workload. Now in 2022, we are thriving with businesses all around Colorado and the United States! We love what we do and we can’t wait to help other small businesses show up, grow and succeed!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve learned so much along the way. We’ve had clients rack up large bills and bail. That is a tough lesson but we’ve made adjustments to how we take on new clients, so that doesn’t happen again. We’ve learned when to say no and stick to what we’ve been hired for. I don’t necessarily say no to a little extra here and there (especially to my clients who are loyal and good to us, I love giving them a little extra) but I’m the boss and creating boundaries for yourself is important. I don’t take work calls past a certain time and I really try to take 2 days off a week for work-life balance!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a digital marketing company specializing in web design, content creation, branding and social media marketing.

What sets us apart is our personal relationships with our clients. We are truly invested in them. We meet monthly, talk frequently and bring ideas to the table that help grow their business. I’ve always said I need a think desk.. I have ideas flowing from my brain constantly on ways to grow your business. My success only happens if my clients have success.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Coming from a professional field where I had mentors, business coaches and life coaches, my suggestion is to find people that support your dreams and lift you up. If you have to create a small network on your own, go for it! Stay clear of things that seem too good to be true, they usually are! There are tons of scammers out there, so vet everyone. Ask for reviews. Look into their work.
