Hi Dae, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Act Right Irrigation & Landscaping began when Dae recognized how much rushed and poorly executed irrigation work was being done across the Denver area. After more than a decade in the industry, she saw homeowners repeatedly paying to fix the same preventable problems. In 2021, she founded Act Right with one clear mission: do the job right the first time.

Built on precision, education, and integrity, the company quickly earned a reputation for reliability and perfect ratings. The focus has always been quality over volume — designing systems that function properly, conserve water, and support long-term landscape health.

As demand grew, Dae partnered with Johann, a horticulture major from Colorado State University, expanding the company’s expertise beyond irrigation alone. By combining technical system knowledge with plant and soil science, Act Right offers a more complete approach to outdoor spaces.

Today, Act Right fills the gap between large companies that prioritize speed and small operators who may lack advanced expertise — delivering high-quality work with the responsiveness and care of a locally owned business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Starting a business always comes with a steep learning curve, and figuring out the operational and financial side of running a company was just as challenging as mastering the technical work itself. But from day one, we built Act Right on a strong moral foundation — and that steady compass has kept us moving in the right direction.

Just as the company was getting off the ground in early 2021, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer at 27 years old and underwent a kidney removal that February. It was a major and unexpected setback at a time when I had planned to go all in on building the business. That experience forced resilience, focus, and perspective very quickly.

Act Right was also built from the ground up — no large backing, no shortcuts — just reinvesting into the company step by step and allowing it to grow at its own pace. That steady, intentional growth has made us stronger and more sustainable.

The challenges shaped the company. They reinforced why we value integrity, long-term thinking, and doing things right the first time — because when you build something carefully and with purpose, it lasts.

Founded in 2021 and proudly serving the greater Denver area, Act Right Irrigation & Landscaping was built on a simple philosophy: do it right the first time.

We specialize equally in irrigation and landscaping, offering truly comprehensive irrigation services — from standard residential systems to pump and well systems, advanced troubleshooting, system redesigns, and water-efficiency upgrades. With over 10 years of hands-on irrigation experience, we understand that proper design and installation aren’t just about watering lawns — they’re about protecting landscapes, conserving water, and preventing costly issues down the road.

Our team blends technical precision with horticultural knowledge. While one of us brings a decade of irrigation expertise, Johann’s background as a horticulture major ensures that plant health, soil conditions, and long-term sustainability are always part of the plan. That balance allows us to approach every project with both mechanical and biological understanding — something that truly sets us apart.

We primarily serve residential clients, along with select light commercial properties, and we are fully insured. In a state like Colorado where landscaping companies are not licensed, we distinguish ourselves through education, professionalism, and accountability.
