Community Highlights: Meet Daniel Logan of Dalo Art + Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Logan.

Daniel Logan

Daniel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a local artist who paints the beauty that I see in the world but with a gritty aesthetic. This mostly comes in the form of animals and landscapes but doesn’t stop there. I paint using a mixed media of acrylic and charcoal that accentuates textures and adds levels of unpredictability to the completion of my art. I started my art career after medically retiring from the Air Force in 2019.

I’m originally from California, but the beauty that I was privy to while stationed at the Air Force Academy encouraged me to stay in Colorado. Two days after I got out of the military, I attended Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design located in Denver. I graduated with my bachelor’s in Illustration in August of 2022, and have been pursuing my love for art full-time ever since.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being an artist is hard. You have to continuously create and market your art. Not only can that be intimidating, but also there’s a lot to it.

You have to publicize yourself on social media, contact galleries, constantly apply for grants, do your taxes, etc.

All that being said, it may seem difficult, but the reward at the end of the day is well worth it, and if I can do it so can you.

As you know, we’re big fans of Dalo Art + Design LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Dalo Art + Design LLC is so important to me because this is exposing my art and what I love to the world. I paint animals, landscapes, and the beauty that I see in the world, but with a gritty aesthetic. I paint with a mixed media of acrylic and charcoal.

This gives me waves of texture, contrast, and truthfully an unpredictability in my art. What sets me apart is that I am willing to put myself in uncomfortable positions to learn and create more of a positive outcome for my art and my business as a whole. I’m proud that I can share my love for art with the world and see the smile that it puts on people’s faces.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One thing that people are consistently surprised about is that I create all my paintings with a mixed media of acrylic paint and charcoal. I am a trained artist but was never trained to do that.

This was something I conjured up because I loved the texture and the contrast these two opposing mediums create.

As well as I wanted to create a niche that was unique to me. It’s messy, but it’s a lot of fun!
