Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Sandoval.
Hi Danielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born June 9th, 1983 to my amazing parents Larry and Victoria Lopez in Thornton Colorado. From birth my passion for movement was very strong. I was doing summer salts before I could even walk. Naturally, my parents enrolled me in gymnastics at the age of 3 and I was in love with the sport immediately. I practiced my splits and flipped on my trampoline for hours before and after practice almost daily for years. I went on to compete in the State High School gymnastics meet & earned 5th place on the Balance Beam. I also attended Denver School of the Arts in Denver for high school and majored in Dance. There I learned how to choreograph individual as well as group dances which helped me discover a love for teaching.
In 2006 I graduated from Metro State College with honors (Magna Cum Laude). From there I worked for the County Courts in Boulder, Co. A few years later I started a family with my Husband Isaac. Our first daughter was born in 2008 Isabella, our second daughter illicia was born in 2010 and Iliya was born in 2011. I figured out quickly that I no longer wanted to work for the courts and wanted to have more time with my children, so that’s what I did. Through this time I continued to workout on my own at 24 hour fitness and would take my kids with me to the gym daycare. I eventually joined a bootcamp class and was later asked to teach. I loved it! Teaching and inspiring other people is my passion.
I eventually moved on to teach at random studios and eventually started doing classes out of my home (2021), which I outgrew quickly. I eventually subleased spaces from some of my friends, one was at a wedding venue and another was out of Elevate Dance Center in Westminster. As I grew, my clients wanted more options, so I decided to look for my own studio, which is where I am at now. 8512 Pearl St in Thornton. I am now able to hold day and evening classes 6 days a week and we are continuously growing. I also trained and hired another teacher who is amazing. Her name is Mandy Ellingsburg, I’ve been training with her for at least 10 years now.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. From struggling to find a space to hold classes to having a lot of self doubt. I have had to pivot multiple times, but I never gave up! My husband has always been my biggest fan and helped me through all the obstacles. From building up my clients to finding a space of my own, he has always worked hard to ensure I could continue to help people.
I take what I do very seriously and when I lose a member, I take it personally as if I failed them in their healthy living journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of High In10sity Fitness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I started High In10sity Fitness to give people a space that pushes them to be the best version of themselves. Not everybody is self motivated and needs an extra push and energy of group support and training.
High In10sity Fitness is known for providing a supportive environment for all fitness levels of training to thrive and grow. My community provides a welcoming atmosphere and positive energy. We are very caring and truly enjoy seeing new faces in our community.
I think what sets us apart from others is the member support and how uplifting everyone is within our community. All members matter. I personally take everyone’s health and wellness seriously and have created a free community chat to help guide, support and educate members through their wellness journey.
My brand is still growing and I’m most proud to say that the member community has taken on a life of its own. Along with my members I try to make everyone feel at home, that is what I truly want is for 1 member to be able to change many lives through their own experiences.
I hope the readers know that there is a place in their community that will support them from the beginning and during their fitness journey. Everyday I hear about members who once went to the gym and would just barely do enough to say they worked out. Not here, the energy of the room will move you!
What were you like growing up?
As a child I was very happy and had a supportive and creative family to look up to. My uncle was a college gymnast and eventually opened his own non-profit performing arts school in NM.
Moreover, my grandmother was a big mentor to me. She was a nurse practitioner in the schools and loved helping people. I used to accompany her to camps for underprivileged and sick children in NY. Growing up I was shown that helping others is a vital part of our daily lives. Living our dreams is possible with hard work and determination.
