Community Highlights: Meet Desi & Angelina Butler of PRYDE Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desi & Angelina Butler. 

Hi Desi & Angelina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We are owners Desi and Angelina Butler. When we met back in 2016, it wasn’t long before we became #relationshipgoals. Little did we know that we shared far more than love for one another: we also shared many common (nerdy) interests. These interests included a passion for web design, graphic design, business management, and most importantly, helping others. As the years went on, the prospect of continuing to work under other people became quite dismal. Honestly, we felt stuck in a loop and found that working a 9-5 job just to get by was no way for us, as free-spirited individuals, to live and thrive. Not only that, but we longed to put our skills to good use for the benefit of others. In August 2019, we quit our corporate jobs as a Director of Client Services (Desi) and Marketing Director (Angelina) and created PRYDE Designs, a women-owned web design, marketing, and brand development agency. 

Having always worked under other people and experienced, firsthand, inequality and gender discrimination in the workplace, we wanted to create our own legacy of unity and equality. PRYDE Designs is not just a brand development and web design agency – it is an open space for people of all walks of life to come together and build one another up through ingenuity, originality, and artistry. Although we are a (newer) business, we know exactly who we are and who we strive to be. Our top priority is helping small business owners build or reinvent their brand identity in a way that brings them success, financial freedom, and an overall better quality of life. 

In our first year of business, we were awarded Best Web Designers across multiple cities in Colorado by Expertise. We have proudly held onto that title to this day. With nothing short of five-star reviews on Google, we take customer service and satisfaction very seriously. Our response to how we’ve accomplished all of our current success is simple: we love what we do and we love that what we do makes a difference. Although we have 14 years of experience in web design, every day presents a new opportunity to not only learn more about our industry but also learn the ins and outs of the industries we develop brand strategies for. When we aren’t devoting time to our fur babies, we are on that grind to evolve as individuals and business owners so we can continue to enrich the lives of others through our services. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting PRYDE Designs meant taking a huge leap of faith and venturing into the vast unknown. From the beginning, we were up against countless obstacles. As if quitting our stable jobs and saying goodbye to a steady income wasn’t scary enough, our first year of business happened to be the year that the global pandemic hit. Those were tremendously difficult, uncertain times for people all around the world, us included. Having had several projects fall through due to the crisis, there were many grueling months we went without knowing if we were going to be able to pay our bills, let alone see our business dreams come true. Although we were struggling, giving up was never an option. We buckled down and came up with a hopeful strategy – Desi took on a part-time job at a restaurant doing take-out, while we both committed the rest of our time and efforts towards fighting for our business. Every day was a hustle to adapt and overcome. Even through the worst of it, we were grateful that we were able to help small business owners find peace of mind and success during the pandemic. Our mindset was, and will always be, that we are all in this together. 

As for the financial uncertainties and late nights spent worrying in the past…it was totally worth the risk! 

We’ve been impressed with PRYDE Designs, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
PRYDE Designs is an award-winning, women-owned brand development agency that specializes in web design, marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), advertising, social media management, custom logo design, branding, and more. 

We help small businesses build a comprehensive brand identity and get the exposure they need to capture and convert more paying customers. We’re happy to work with both service and product-based industries, as well as non-profits. 

We understand the science and psychology behind building a successful brand. We offer complete brand kits that include custom logo concepts, premium fonts, refined color palettes, business card designs, brand style guides, and social media graphics. We design and build custom websites that are eye-catching and functional on all devices. Our team uses professional design software to create custom graphics that can span from logos all the way to full vehicle wraps. We develop and implement unique marketing, SEO, and social media strategies that establish brand recognition, generate leads and drive website traffic. 

Above anything else, we’re known for the quality of work we put out, as well as the love and care we put into each and every project. We really do take PRYDE in what we do. Although we are up against companies who have been established for more than 15 years, we are getting the PRYDE Design’s name out there and local businesses are taking notice of our zealousness for creative web design and brand development. 

Our driving force is not only our own success but the success of the businesses, small and large, who continue to trust us with their vision. From the beginning, we have poured our hearts into every project and it is our promise to never lose that special spark of intensity (or insanity?) that sets us apart from every other web design company out there. At PRYDE Designs, we are proud of the work we do, we are proud of what we stand for, and we are proud of believing in a better future for ourselves and others. 

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
We are HUGE believers in the power of manifestation, self-love, and self-care. A few books that have guided us immensely are 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘕𝘰𝘸: 𝘈 𝘎𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘌𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 by Eckhart Tolle, 𝘈𝘴𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘵 𝘐𝘴 𝘎𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 by Esther Hicks and Jerry Hicks, and 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘉𝘦 𝘈𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦 by Chidera Eggerue. 

We use Mind Body Soul and PowerThoughts Meditation Club YouTube channels for our daily positive affirmations and guided meditations. When we’re working in our home studio, we listen to 528Hz energy cleansing music from the YouTube channel Woke Nation. We also enjoy listening to CloZee Spotify playlists.
