Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Orosz.
Hi Greg, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started as an athlete at eight years old playing football, basketball, and baseball. I was never much of a fan of baseball because most of the pitchers would hit me with the ball, so I found track and field at age ten. When I got to middle school, I learned about wrestling and decided to try that instead of basketball and I fell in love the physicality of the sport. I stuck with football, wrestling, and track throughout high school and into college. While playing college football, I received too many TBI’s which put me out of sports. I decided to focus on pursuing my exercise science degree and found the sport of Strongman in 2012. I started training for my first competition to take place in June of 2012. After that first competition, I was hooked to the sport and I have never looked back.
After my first competition, I started training harder and immersed myself in my sport completely. When I went back to college in the fall, I was invited to join the cheerleading team. I was hesitant at first, but once I realized the amount of talent and athleticism it took, I started to enjoy the sport.
After college, I started my own personal training business, Work Harder Fitness, and I train athletes from multiple different states that want to become healthier and stronger. I mostly focus on strength athletes, but I also coach a handful of high school athletes throughout the year to help them in their respective sports.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey through sports and school has never been easy. I am by no means the smartest or most athletic person by my nature, but I know how hard I have to work to accomplish my goals and I am willing to put in whatever work is necessary. I have always had to work twice as hard as the people around me to prove myself to my peers and myself.
As you know, we’re big fans of Work Harder Fitness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Work Harder Fitness is more than just a name, it is a lifestyle for my athletes. We specialize in strength and conditioning for athletes. The thing about Work Harder Fitness is that if an athlete accepts the challenge, they will be rewarded tenfold in return for the work they put in. We are known for training in traditional ways that have been proven over many years to increase gross bodily strength in a sustainable way that is backed by science. The biggest thing that sets me apart from other trainers is that I train myself using the same types of plans that I prescribe for my clients. I tell all of my clients and athletes, “If I am going to ask you to do it, I am wholeheartedly willing to do it myself.” We have built a brand based around athlete success and health. Our athletes rarely spend time with injuries because we prescribe plans to take time but be successful in the long run. Work Harder Fitness is a challenge to make yourself better through working hard on yourself, becoming inwardly strong in order to be outwardly successful. We offer online personalized training whether you are wanting to get healthy and make positive lifestyle changes or if you are an elite athlete that wants to take their sport to the next level.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always the chubby kid with glasses that got picked on constantly while growing up. I stayed mostly to myself while growing up because it was easier to be alone than to get bullied. When I wasn’t in school or in sports, I was either working for my family business or playing outside. I have always lived an outdoor lifestyle from hunting and fishing to riding atv’s and camping.
