Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Pfeifer.
Hi Hannah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always believed that the way a child feels—safe or unsafe, seen or unseen—shapes how they experience the world. That belief is what led me to become a pediatric occupational therapist, and ultimately, to start a therapy practice built around that philosophy.
I’m a pediatric occupational therapist by training, but my passion has always been rooted in something deeper—understanding the why behind behavior. Early in my career, I became fascinated by the role emotional regulation plays in development, and how a child’s ability to feel safe, connected, and confident directly impacts their capacity to grow, learn, and thrive. I saw firsthand how powerful therapy could be when it addressed not just motor skills or milestones, but the full emotional experience of a child.
Driven by this, I pursued advanced training in trauma and resilience, emotional regulation, and child mental health. These certifications expanded my lens beyond traditional OT practice and solidified a belief I couldn’t ignore: social-emotional development isn’t a side note—it’s the foundation.
After several years of clinical work, my husband (a physical therapist) and I decided to open our own practice. We envisioned a space where families could find wraparound support—where occupational, speech, and physical therapy came together under one roof, and where emotional wellbeing was prioritized just as highly as physical progress.
That vision became Fyzical Therapy. Today, we operate three thriving clinics in Castle Rock, North Parker, and South Parker, Colorado. We’ve built something special—clinics that are rooted in science, fueled by passion, and driven by a mission to help children and families love their lives.
Running the business has stretched and shaped me in ways I never expected. While I had clinical expertise, learning the world of operations, leadership, marketing, and culture-building was like earning a second degree. There were growing pains and steep learning curves, but also moments of immense pride. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being willing to learn, adapt, and lead with heart. That’s what we try to model every day—for our staff, our families, and the children we serve.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road—but I think that’s where the most meaningful growth has come from. Starting a business, especially in healthcare, involves far more than just being a good clinician. I quickly realized that being passionate about therapy wasn’t enough—I needed to become a strong leader, a confident decision-maker, and someone who could juggle a dozen moving parts at once.
One of the biggest challenges early on was learning how to wear all the hats: HR, payroll, marketing, compliance, team culture—you name it. I had to learn how to trust my gut, but also when to ask for help. There were moments of self-doubt, staffing hurdles, tough business decisions, and unexpected setbacks. But each challenge pushed me to become more resilient, more strategic, and more rooted in our mission.
Another hard—but valuable—lesson was recognizing the emotional toll that leadership can take. I care deeply about our staff and the families we serve, so finding the balance between empathy and boundaries was a process. I had to learn how to lead with heart, but also protect my energy so I could show up fully for my team.
Looking back, the struggles were the refining fire. They shaped not only our business, but the kind of leader—and person—I’ve become. And I wouldn’t trade that journey for anything.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Fyzical Therapy is a multidisciplinary pediatric and adult therapy clinic with locations in Castle Rock, North Parker, and South Parker, Colorado. We offer occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology all under one roof—but what truly sets us apart is how we do it.
At our core, we believe that therapy is about more than just hitting milestones. It’s about creating connection, building confidence, and helping individuals of all ages learn to love their lives. We specialize in social-emotional development, trauma-informed care, and play-based interventions that support the whole child—not just their diagnosis or delays. For our adult clients, we apply that same compassionate, person-centered approach to promote healing, mobility, and quality of life.
What we’re known for—and what we’re most proud of—is our unwavering commitment to emotional wellness. We’re not a traditional therapy clinic. We lead with heart, prioritize relationships, and train our staff to look beneath the surface behaviors to uncover the why. Our therapists are experts in their fields, but they’re also deeply invested in creating safe, empowering spaces where real progress can happen.
We also offer advanced diagnostic services for autism spectrum disorder, social groups to build real-world confidence, and one-on-one therapy that feels more like play than work. From toddlers to teens to adults, we meet each client where they’re at and walk alongside them every step of the way.
Ultimately, we want readers to know this: At Fyzical, we don’t just treat symptoms—we see people. We believe every individual has potential worth fighting for, and we’re honored to be part of that journey.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve learned that risk and growth go hand in hand. Opening a business—especially one rooted in a deeply personal mission—is always a risk. You’re putting your heart, your finances, your reputation, and your time on the line with no guarantee of success. But for me, the greater risk was staying comfortable and never creating the kind of clinic I believed families truly needed.
When my husband and I decided to open our first location, we didn’t have business degrees or a roadmap—but we had a vision. We wanted to build a place where therapy didn’t just check boxes but made a real impact on emotional and developmental outcomes. So, we took the leap into business ownership, navigating startup costs, hiring a team, and learning everything from payroll to marketing on the fly.
About a year and a half into building the practice, we welcomed our first child—and by the time we hit our third year, we had two kids under two. Growing a business while growing a family was beautiful, chaotic, and incredibly hard. But it also made our mission that much more personal.
I don’t think you have to be reckless to be a risk-taker. I think risk can be calculated, purposeful, and deeply tied to your values. I’ve found that when the why is strong enough, it gives you the courage to push past fear. Every time we’ve taken a risk—whether it was expanding to a new location, launching a new program, or hiring a new leader—it’s come from a place of wanting to serve our community better.
To me, risk is necessary. Not because success is guaranteed, but because the impact is worth fighting for.
