Community Highlights: Meet Isabella Baudo of Ace Beauty & Co

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella Baudo.

Hi Isabella, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my makeup obsession a few years ago when I used to watch beauty gurus on YouTube for hours at a time and try to recreate their looks. From the time my love for makeup artistry started, I thought there was no way I would ever be able to do it professionally. Fast forward several years and now I get to do what I love every single day. While I do consider myself a self-taught artist, I picked up lots of tips, tricks, and new techniques while working at Ulta Beauty and then for MAC Cosmetics. While learning the ins and outs of the perfect makeup application, I soon realized how vital good skincare and self-care treatments are to looking and feeling your best. While working for MAC I started my journey as an esthetician and was going to school to get my esthetics license. Now I am the owner of Ace Beauty & Co. and offer a variety of treatments in my own studio. I figured out what I truly love to do and I still can’t believe I get to call this my career.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think everyone with either a small business or with the goals of starting a small business can agree that the past 2 years have been pretty rough. With that being said though, I think that it just shows the dedication and determination that small business owners put into their businesses. The pandemic was a bit of a setback in more ways than just the obvious shutdown. The cost of supplies has increased a lot over since the beginning of the pandemic as well, which makes starting and maintaining a business more difficult. But I love and am so proud of my business so every bump in the road has been totally worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The name Ace Beauty & Co holds a special place in my heart for many reasons. My grandfather’s nickname was Ace and sadly, I lost my grandfather when I was a little girl. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about what my life would be like if he was still here. My son is named after my grandfather as well. His first name was James so James + Ace = Jace (my son’s name).

The definition of Ace is a person who is an expert or highly skilled. An Ace is also a playing card that holds the highest value. I want every one of my clients to know that I am 110% dedicated to providing the best experience while getting a service done with me, no matter what service they are treating themselves to. I will always strive to be the best of the best and will continue to do whatever it takes to constantly be the best.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
When I moved to Colorado in 2018, the plan was only to be living with my family for a little while until I got on my feet out here and was able to find my own place. Well, I’m still here and as much as I miss having my own house, I am so so so lucky to be able to live with them, especially with my son. They are all my biggest supporters since I’ve started the journey of opening up my own business. Whether it be volunteering to be one of my models, watching my son while I work, or just liking and saving all of my posts on Instagram; they’re all always there for me. So, while pre-baby me would rather be living on my own, post-baby me considers myself one of the luckiest people.
