Community Highlights: Meet Jenna Rosenfeld of Purple Lotus Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Rosenfeld.

Hi Jenna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been that person people come to when they’re struggling, and since I was a young child, I have always wanted to be in the helping industry. I worked in treatment centers and agencies for years, and while I learned a ton, I also kept feeling like something was missing. A lot of places focus on quick fixes or surface-level change, but I wanted to go deeper to help people actually understand why they feel the way they do and reconnect with themselves instead of feeling broken. That’s how Purple Lotus Counseling came to life. I picked the name because I love the idea that a lotus grows through mud, it’s messy and uncomfortable, but something beautiful still comes out of it. That’s kind of my approach to therapy too. I mix traditional talk therapy with more mind-body things like hypnotherapy and inner child work: whatever actually works for the person in front of me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. Starting my own practice sounded exciting at first, but I quickly realized I had to figure out how to be a therapist and a business owner at the same time which was a whole different challenge. There were moments I doubted myself and wondered if I was doing any of it right. Money stress, comparison to other therapists, total imposter syndrome. All of it showed up. I had to learn things like setting boundaries, charging for my time without feeling guilty, and trusting that people would find me for who I am. It was messy at times, but honestly it made me more grounded and real in the way I show up now.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Purple Lotus Counseling is my private practice where I help people work through anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and the patterns that keep them feeling stuck. I use a mix of hypnotherapy, CBT, DBT, and inner child work, depending on what someone needs and what fits their personality. I think what makes my work different is that I keep things real and human. I am not the kind of therapist who just sits quietly and nods. I like to actually be in the process with my clients and help them make sense of what they are experiencing instead of making them feel like they are broken. Everything I suggest is something I actually use in my own life. If I tell you a breathing technique works, it’s because I’ve used it in moments I’ve been falling apart. If I teach a coping skill, it’s because I’ve leaned on it too. I think people can feel that when they work with me. I am proud that people feel safe being fully themselves with me. I want readers to know that therapy with me is not about perfection or pretending to be okay. It is about finding your way back to yourself and feeling like you can finally breathe again.

Any big plans?
I’m really excited about growing more into hypnotherapy because it’s such a powerful tool and surprisingly simple for people to experience. It’s not mind control like TV makes it seem. It’s more like putting your brain into a deeply relaxed state where positive change feels natural instead of like a fight. It works especially well for things like weight loss, insomnia, smoking cessation, and certain fears that people have struggled with for years. Instead of forcing yourself through willpower, hypnotherapy helps your subconscious finally get on board.

Another big part of my work is canine-assisted therapy with my dog Tucker. He’s a registered therapy dog and every other week we go to a women’s substance abuse treatment center where we run a group together. He helps people open up in ways they probably wouldn’t without him. I also offer in-person therapy sessions in an office in Littleton where Tucker is always there as emotional support and he usually finds his way to whoever needs him most. Overall, I’m just looking forward to offering more healing that actually feels gentle, accessible, and real. Even though I have been doing this for about 15 years now, I still feel like I have a lot to be done and am not slowing down anytime soon.
