Community Highlights: Meet Jeremey Ellis of Colorado Saunas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremey Ellis.

Hi Jeremey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Back in early 2022, life really changed for me. My wife at the time was battling a serious chronic health condition, and things got so bad that she was mostly bedridden. I stepped away from my 18-year real estate career to become her full-time caregiver. I was feeling the financial pressure from that decision and I started doing small handyman jobs on the side to help ends meet and cover some deadlines of the medical bills that were piling up.

One day, a customer asked me to move a barrel sauna from one of his properties. I’d never seen anything like it before—I was instantly intrigued. I moved it successfully, then asked peppered with questions about it. Not long after, I decided to buy a few saunas at a local retailer, and marked them up by a few hundred dollars, but included installation. Around that same time, my wife noticed how much better she felt using a sauna, so we bought a small one for our home, too. To my surprise and delight, I was actually able to sell a few units and made a few hundred dollars!

Fast forward to April 2023—my wife, Angela, passed away suddenly and I was completely devastated. I knew I couldn’t keep living the same life because everything about my routines were painful reminders that she was gone and I was alone. So I made the decision to make a fresh start in n order to continue living: I moved houses, left my real estate career behind, and leaned on sauna installations just to get by.

A few months later, one of the manufacturers reached out to me. They’d noticed how many saunas I was selling and, even though they weren’t taking on new dealers, they made an exception and offered me a dealership agreement. That was the moment I realized this could be more than a side hustle—it could actually be my career. I was on cloud nine, and honestly, it wasn’t even a good partnership agreement, but I realized it was a big step in the direction I wanted to be heading in.

Since then, it’s taken off. I became known as “the sauna guy” in Colorado, partnered with several top sauna brands, and even started working with health professionals, custom builders, and professional athletes from the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. The best part? People I once dreamed of working with have actually asked to join me, and now I’ve got an incredible team by my side, too!

What started in the middle of hardship and loss has turned into something that brings life, health, connection, and joy—and I’m so excited for what’s ahead.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been an easy road and there have been plenty of challenges along the way. Early on, my work van was broken into and all of my tools and equipment were stolen overnight. Insurance would’ve only covered a fraction of the loss, so we had to eat that cost out of pocket. Another time, a set of expensive custom glass sauna walls shattered during transportation in what was truly just a freak accident. And then there was the retail space I leased that really stretched the budget—only to find out we couldn’t move forward with it the way I had planned without months of permitting and construction delays, which meant thousands and thousands of dollars in unexpected costs that added to an already over-extended budget.

Those are just a few examples. The truth is, setbacks like that have been part of the journey from the very beginning and don’t really seem to stop coming. But each one pushed me to get creative, stay resilient, and keep moving forward. Looking back, those challenges were painful in the moment, but they were also the catalyst that shaped me into the person I’ve become and formed the business that I have today.

I truly love this business—it’s by far the most fulfilling career I’ve ever had. Selling saunas aligns perfectly with my core belief that “selling is helping”.

Every day, I get to do exactly that: help people. I help them discover what they’re looking for in a sauna, guide them toward the model that best fits their needs, and then bring it all to life by installing and setting up their space. What I love most is seeing the joy from start to finish—my customers are genuinely excited through every step of the process. Honestly, it feels a little like being Santa Claus all year long!
