Community Highlights: Meet Jessica La Forge of God Save the Cream

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica La Forge.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I founded God Save the Cream eight years ago after honing my skills at several restaurants to find my true vision in the baking/pastry/and dessert industries. I’d like to believe that opportunities at consulting and working under and with some amazingly talented chefs led me to my path today. I began working in the industry at 15 years old and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. There are various ways to contribute skills in the food industry and I have been very fortunate to base my business in such an expanding market. God Save the Cream is run on a wholesale model that focuses on restaurants, and large public venues. They order directly through us and can usually receive basic offerings or custom requests with a four days turnaround.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
During Covid, we really did face some tough times. Many of the businesses we service shuttered temporarily during the pandemic. We had to pivot and depend on home deliveries during the duration. Luckily, we were able to use some of the downtimes to perfect and introduce some new and innovative concepts.

As you know, we’re big fans of God Save the Cream. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
God Save the Cream is 100% women-owned and operated, selling wholesale ice cream, gelato, sorbet and novelties to the Denver area. We specialize in creating custom churns unique to each account we service. We are different from other ice cream wholesalers because we are artisans. We take time creating and perfecting everything that we incorporate into our products. All of our extracts, purées, cookies, and cakes are created in-house with quality and customer experience top of mind! We are most proud about growing organically and sustainably through the eight years we’ve been operating! We value each venue we serve and take the time to understand their needs as well as the customers

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Denver! Denver’s food scene is growing with an emphasis on local and high-quality products. We have been fortunate to have started this company here! The only complaint we have is the inclement weather changes, making deliveries an adventure
