Community Highlights: Meet Jody Ehlert and Nancy Gentry of Made For Lips

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jody Ehlert and Nancy Gentry.

Hi Jody and Nancy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We started made for lips as a little side hustle for fun. We wanted to create a product that was clean and eco-friendly. We were asked to sell in store WonderPress juice in downtown Boulder. From there, people came from all over the United States and buy our product to take it home and then order it online. Soon, Made For Lips was out there. We are getting orders from pretty much everywhere in the United States. We did some re-branding and now we are looking to make MFL a Go brand for everyone.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, not a smooth throat at all. As a matter of fact, pretty much nothing worked out. We had to figure out a way to work around problems like barcodes not scanning labels not sticking, supply chain problems. We both love a challenge and think of this as fun.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Made For Lips?
Our business is making the best lip balm out there. We manufacture here in Boulder, Colorado. We hand-pour every single product. We both enjoy being in production. Our products are eco-friendly. We both noticed how plastics were everywhere. Simple things like lip balm do not need to be in a container that last forever. So we created our lip balms in cardboard tubes. They actually work just as well as a plastic tube but they don’t last forever.
